Today is a very special day of remembrance for Americans. Today we Give Thanks for everything we have, had, or will have.

Along those lines, I'd like to make a request of all Bowhunters, of all Hunters everywhere really.

When you are blessed out in the woods and have taken your killing shot. As you walk up to this magnificent member of the animal kingdom, please say a special Prayer of Thanksgiving to it and to our Creator for giving you the opportunity of sharing with you, it's life-giving flesh. It only takes a moment and after that, you can take your pictures and wonder at the size of his rack or the lush softness of his fur.

I spend a good amount of time with friends who are Indian. I've learned to share their thoughts on this and many subjects with respect. To the Indian, the four-legged or animal kingdom of any kind or size are brothers, relations. To them, saying that prayer is a mandatory item of respect and to not do so is unthinkable. I think, no, I know that it would go a long way with our own God (same one as they have by the way) if we showed our respect for one of his creations. Prayer is a powerful thing that does much more than we realize. Doing this could change your life or all of our lives with it's moment's pause for reflection and thanks.

Thanks for considering this. Happy Thanksgiving all!

Good on ya TRaz, I concur wholeheartedly. I've always said some words and felt a closeness to the animals taken. Could be the Aztec, Yaqui and Scottish blood lines I've been blessed with.:)

Have an awesome day with your loved ones today.

note: Jack Paluh is an excellent artist, thanks for the pics.

Great thought Scott, it always helps to say a prayer while hunting as well. After all isn't this why we all enjoy getting out in gods creation. For reflection, relaxation, and fresh air!:D

I always bend down on a knee and thank the Lord for providing me with animals from his great creation whenever I am fortunate enough to take something. Although it may not be often, when hunting, I am always thanking and glorifying God for such beauty as the great outdoors. No two days are ever the same and there's always something wonderful to enjoy.
