I will post this just because I don't believe in only posting the good. I shot pretty bad Saturday. I don't know what happened I was doing ok to start with. I shot at Shady Lane in Damascus, VA. I was 2 down on target #9 and shot a 1/4" to the left of the twelve on a 36 yard pronghorn. That put me 4 down. I shot a 10 on the next target but the next one was a nickel and it was like cutting on a water faucet it just kept getting uglier. I did not hit one twelve all day, even though they have me listed with 6, not sure how that happened. We'll anyway I ended up at 270 out of 300. Here is a link to all the scores. The Mathews Pro there had the best score at 318. I have to go to a course next saturday where they like to set every target over 40yds. Should be interesting.

Oh, I forgot I am the one at spot #8 in the open class.

Hang in there, I'm sure your luck will change around. You just switched from pins right?

Yeah but I put the pins back on and am going to shoot Saturday in the unlimited class.

Well by the tone in all of your posts lately, it seems that you don't have much confidence in your shooting ability. Hang in there during the rough times, after all, your still having fun aren't you. That's all that really counts.

Yep you are correct

It will get better!

I know it's all fun, but it's a lot more fun when you shoot well :xmrgreen:

I went to open class last year. I shot well for a few shoots, then began to struggle. Back to pins for the last shoot of the year and shot as well as I had all year. I have accepted that I am a pinshooter.

I will remain a pinshooter, until I become curious again

Keep your chin up and smile :xn_cheesygrin:

I think you are right. Its kind of like the old saying "you can take the boy out of the country but you can't take the country out of the boy" and I am beginning to realize it also pertains to shooting pins. I know I can shoot I just need to stay with pins. :D

Hey Pinshooter,
I'm just curious and not looking to start any negative feelings but how can NOT practicing the 5-spot target help you get better at 3-D?

Pinshooter, I agree with Macaholic.* I am no coach but I think the 3D range is the wrong place to work if someone is struggling with their shooting.* With 3D targets having no visible spot to aim at and with the unmarked yardage it throws in extra variables when trying to solve shooting problems.* I have a golf analogy to compare this to.* Many people try to work on their swing while they are out playing a round of golf.* It does not work well, the place to work on form is at the driving range.*

Now maybe you are able to use a bale to while working on your shooting but around here indoors is the only comfortable shooting during the winter.* I just thought I would offer some friendly advice, won't be offended if you tell me to stuff it :D.* What caused you to shoot the 4 on the second round of your practice?* Did the shot feel good?* Was the sight on the X?* Sight moving too much?* Any flinching?

No I won't tell you to stuff it :D
As far as missing the shot I just pulled it but at 20yds there is no excuse for hitting all blue :D
The reason I feel I can't shoot spots is because our 3d season is in full swing here and it would take away from me working on bettering myself. I really can't afford to take time off since April 1 will be the Myrtle Beach shoot.

Your 3D season is in full swing right now? Well then I would not be shooting a spot league either! Hope you get it all worked out.

I wish I could shoot 3-D in January. That's not right. The first one in this area will be Feb. 20th, they call it there "Snow Shoot", :-k

I just want to shoot, so it's Spots for the winter.

Pinshooter, enjoy!

Thanks I plan on it, I think  :D
Since the ASA went to a 50yd max these local clubs are making the yardage hard. I haven't been where I am going Saturday but I have heard you seldom see a target less than 40yds.

That sounds EASY

You should play the odds and shoot everything for 40 :xn_cheesygrin:

Yeah when it gets that long I should just put every pin I have on the target and pray for the best. :D

Wow pinshooter, that is awesome that you can look at 3D results online in your area. I have looked and the local clubs don't have anything like that around here.

Yeah I like it. The last time I checked it didn't cost that much either. Seems like it was about $30 a year for basic info and to list scores.
