Good luck to ya Phil. I'm heading out that way Friday morning! :) I'll be about 100 miles east of you and 30 to 40 miles north of Estes Park.
I'm can't wait to get there either. I can't believe the amount of preparation a trip like this takes. I've been working on this for months!
Next time it will be soooo much easier. My next BIG game hunt is a Bull moose hunt in 2010. :5bouncy:
Anyway.....enjoy your hunt, have fun, best of luck!

Just got back from 11 days of hunting around 8800ft North of Steamboat. Started out hunting east of Clark on green mill mine road tried it for four days did not see or even here anything, exept for a lot of domestic cows every mountain we climbed, was not to happy. Then the sheep moved in. This was National Forest land. The scenery was breath taking and awsome but at least expected to at least see an Elk. So we packed up camp and went back arund Rabbit Ears pass at 10000ft and found lots of sign but still no bugling for four days there thought this was even better area but notta. Still had a great time seeing the scenery and taking lots of pics. Wish it could have been better for my first time out there but all in all was a great experience. Oh yea there was also a lot of sheep in this area.ANyone else encounter this.

Sorry you didn't get what you went after Phil but it looks like a memorable trip anyway. I haven't been to CO since the summer of 1972, I'm jealous you got to spend time there. Thanks for the pics.

...man, thats a bummer to travel that far and not get what you went for EASTON400...
...but then again, if you came back with a new found appreciation for the AWESOME views and the clean air...you've come back with what many of us would like to have as a memory
...minus the "sheep" of course!! :D
...been since the early 80's since I've been there...rabbit ears pass...Steamboat..., does that bring back some great memories!!...
...glad you made the trip and lived to tell about it bro!! :5bowtie:
