Same here regarding your neck of the woods. WOW! What a great place you are living in. Never been there, but saw your home on TV many times. Beautiful!
High desert here. Live 50 miles from Colorado mountains, 30 miles from the great Navajo Nation, and 25 miles from Lake Navajo and the San Juan river's quality waters for trophy trout. Great hunting, fishing, camping, scenery, and four states to shoot 3Ds in.
Thanks guys and Gals for the welcome, r302

Welcome! I have heard quite a bit about your area. I work with a couple guys that moved to KC from Farmington. I'm hoping to ride along with one of them someday when they go back to visit family. I've been to the four corners and hiked around Arch's Na't Park, as well as Lake Powell, but never made it any further South. I keep appying for an elk tag in the Gila, but they keep giving my money back! Maybe someday.

I am like you just love to shoot flinters compared to percussion side locks
I just sold a 54 flinter that drove tacks with 95 grains of goex 3F and a 230 grain RB;I took the funds for the new Martin bow set up.
I still have my 50 cal. flinter

Cool! We also have a Guns and Ammo section to ASN. Down at the bottom of the forums main page, Non-Archery Topics. It's under that.
I enjoy all kinds of shooting and have tried many types, but the smoke poles are the most fun of all of them. I couldn't hardly care about shooting the modern ones anymore, but I do occasionally anyway...
I started with a .54 Uberti Saint Louis Hawken capgun, but that didn't last long. I hooked up with a bunch that shot flinters exclusively and they showed me the error of my ways, LOL! Been doing Rocks ever since. Doing Ronyvous' is what got me back to Archery too. Selfbows and all-wood arrows with carved and tied nocks. Primitive archery! Shooting off the thumb rest.
I've got an older custom made Dickert pattern Pennsylvania longrifle in .45. I usually stoke it with 50 grains of 3F, .010" patches and a .433" 125 grain ball. Smokin accurate! That's a target load for the rendezvous. I'm not as active shooting it anymore either. My research into a persona led me into Native things and I've been active with a group of Lakota and Kiowa now for about 4 years, but that's a whole nuther story.

just wanted to say hello. I joined back in Oct. 2008 but hadn't posted anything. I had to give up my internet service. I'm 100% disabled and on a limited income so sacrifices had to be made. I live in Oklahoma. I hunted and fished all my life but can't do much now unless I have assistance. I still go and set up hunting camp every year though. I enjoy setting by a fire talking to other hunters about what God's good earth blessed them with that day. I have three wonderful kids although they are no longer kids but adults now. I'm married but my wife left me the day my S. S. check hit the bank this past January. She filed for divorce, told me she was tired of me not being able to work. After 28 years it's a hurtin pretty bad. But every one says that I will be happier after it's all over with. I'll hope for the best and wait and see. Wow, talk about posting a bunch of downer stuff. Life's good and I do enjoy logging on to Archerysite every chance I get.
