I am looking to make a cheap 3D turkey target for the kids.

I was thinking of taking a collapsible turkey decoy and putting some of the expanding foam insulation inside it.

I know I would need to fill it a little at a time to let the foam expand.* I knew a guy that tried it on his hard shelled duck decoys, but he filled them completely. When the foam expanded it "blow-up" the decoys.*:grin:

Decoy $15
Expanding foam$5
Kids poking arrows in it.....Priceless

NY, be careful, this guy was scraping the uncured foam off the rafters in his basement.  He said his basment looked like "something went seriously wrong at the Sta-puffed mashmallow factory".

I think if you put a little in at a time, let that set-up/expand, repeat until full might work.

I scored at Dick's sporting goods. They were selling Jake collapsable decoys for $4.95. I picked up two. :D

Dicks has bought out Galyans. The former Galyans here is selling off all their used long guns and pistols. The guy at the now Dicks store said they will only carry the firearms that Dicks sells. No handguns, main stream/common rifles and shotguns only. Galyans had some good prices on the not so common firearms.

Check out their used gun sales. I just picked up a Benelli M1 Super 90 used for $450

Make sure you open up the decoy so it can get air to it,,I done the same thing to some deeks, but it needs air to make it expand,,I let it set overnight in the cavity without a large airhole and it was just as it came out of the can,, you also might stuff the head and neck with grocery sacks, those plastic kind,,
as you don t want to open the a large hole in the head,, a few yrs back I bought a archery target at wal mart,,one of them cheap ones it fell apart in the rain,,,and it was stuffed full of colasped turkey decoys
so I fixed them up with foam and plastic bags, done some air brushing on them and now I got a flock
of 6 hens and a jake,,,, Fallguy

Thanks for the tip. I thought about filling the neck half way, from a hole in the top of the head. Then fill the bottom half from the hole in the bottom. If I do it a little at a time maybe it will work. :-?

I have been busy with pinewood derby and haven't been able to try it yet. Should be able to work on it next week after the races this weekend. I will keep you posted.

Should work great for the kids. I guess it's not reselant, which means it will get shot out quick, but kids seem to spread the love out a little more than the big kids like us.

I don't think it will stop dad's arrows though.
