I have been bow hunting for over twenty years and I look forward to getting to know all of you I had a good season this year and finnal got into the record books, Happy trails Rich To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. was hunting the Starky unit here in Oregon for elk , deer ,bear, and couger well Since the slimmy tree huggers got dogs banned for running the cats we have had a population explosion, the elk and deer herds are way down as these cats take 54 deer and elk a year each. thats a lot of elk. any way I had been hunting all day and didn't see any elk or deer then about 5pm I was walking down a elk trail and below me I saw this cat layin off the trail about 100 yards away he had no idea I was there so I slipped of my boots and krept down the mountain until I was about 50 yards from him and he sat up and looked right at me just as the arrow got to him. He jumped about 20 feet in the air and then bolted across a creek on a fallen tree and disappered into some blowdown on the othere side I waited for about a half hour and took up the blood trail. You want to talk about the (spirit of the wild. )What happen next is almost unbeliveable but as I got to the blowdown where I last saw him I stood on the log he went over and he lunged at me!!! he was still alive I knocked a arrow and moved back in trying to get a shot just when I could see him he jumped at me !! I shot and hit him in mid air at about 2 feet and then ran like a scared little girl. he went into some more blow down and that was it. it was the most exciting hunt of my life.
