We finally got our Christmas tournament finished. *As I posted earlier it was originally scheduled for Christmas day, but it had to be pushed back to the 27th. *Unfortunatley we were running a normal patrol schedule that day so many of the shooters in the compound class couldn't make it. *In order to give the guys a chance to participate I did a make up shoot last night for the compound guys and still only a few guys could make it. *The dang war keeps getting in the way.

Here's the scores:

Compound:

SGT Frazier (Panzer) 293 x27
SSG Jensen (UP'er) 292 x31
SPC Reipen 275 x13
SGT Whittington 259 x9
SGT Steel 253 x5
SSG(P) Keys 196 x1

Traditional:

SSG Alejandro 212 x4
SGT Zahnley 142 x1
SSG Burch 137 x1
1LT Inman 134 x2
SPC Wheelbarger 104 x0
SPC Lockaby 67 x1

SGT Whittington was the winner of our Thanksgiving shoot. *We all expected him to take first or second place but he was having a really bad day.

Clayking has donated gift certificates to Lancaster for the top 5 Compound shooters and the top 3 traditional shooters. *Also the overall top shooter won a new bow, which hasn't arrived yet and is somewhere in the mail. *Since I won, and I already have a couple of bows I offered it to the second place winner, but he said that since I won it I should keep it. *I'm thinking of leaving the new bow here and taking the one I'm shooting now instead. *How many other guys can go to the range and show off the bow they shot in Iraq?

Someone on a traditiona board the SSG Alajendro frequents donated a couple of small 3d targets and they arrived the day before the shoot. *After the 300 rounds were complete we hand a mini 3-d shoot. *Since we were could only shoot 20 yards we shot 1 arrow at each target from 5 postions including standing in the bleachers on the left and right side of the range, standing on the floor, kneeling, and sitting in a chair. *It was interesting to shoot at something besides paper, and some of these guys found that I wasn't lying when I told them they needed to practice shooting from odd positions if they planned on hunting. *Unfortunately I don't have the scores for the 3d shoot since it was pretty informal but I rmember that I won and SSG Jenson took second again. *The traditional guys did pretty well on these too, especially from the odd positions.

Here are a few pics, I'll post more when I get them for the other guys who had cameras.

This is the view downrange

Nice scores for a bunch of short time archers who are more at home with automatic weapons.* Looks like a fun event despite the Army's duties getting in the way of attendence.

Merry Christmas to all the guys, hope the holidays was made a little bit better because of the shoot.......................ck

P.S.* * * My niece just arrived for her second tour over there and she got out after her first tour, but called back in.* Seems we are straining at the seams to achieve adequate strength.

I forgot to mention in my earlier post that not only did clayking provide the gift certificates, his family also but together a box full of goodie bags for each of the shooter. They were a big hit too, especially since they were heavy on chocolate, which is hard to get here.

WR,

They're not in the pic but there are some M4s, M9s and a M249 SAW laying around too. We gotta stay prepared.

I'll send the nylons and keep what sheds them.......

The chocolate Christmas bags were packed full of about 875,000 calories per bag.* *The lady at the Sam's check-out asked what the hell I was doing with all this junk food.* *I told here it was being shipped to a bunch of soldiers in Iraq for an Archery Christmas shoot.* *She started going off about how great that was, yadda, yadda, yadda, and the next thing I know she's handing me five bucks to help pay.* I thanked her very much but politely said, that's ok, I've got it, but thanks for the offer.* Below is a pic.

Chris & guys, I only hope that this made your Christmas overseas a little bit more enjoyable despite the interupution to the scheduling problems you* guys encountered.

Many thanks for the Christmas card and Camp Cvervo Archery Club membership card.* PDT_Armataz_01_34

Happy new year to all....................

CK that was really cool. And thanx for putting in the extra effort for awards on the Christmas shoot. It's guys like you that make the world a better place........ most of the time anyway..... :icon_cheesygrin:

Great pics Panzer. Just think of the scores y'all would be turning out with long stabilizers and such.

I think if I got frustrated I'd grab that Stoner leaning up against the wall and let that "groudhog bear" have it..... PDT_Armataz_01_36

I Hate that target :x Just goes to show that your boy has got skillz just hitting it with a recurve. I couldn't hit the back wall with a recurve.

And thanks again CK, you're alright......... no matter what DD says about you.....
