From reading the posts I understand that a signed one is a trophy, but does anyone want to explain to a newbee the history behind them.

This started a long time ago. To have a little fun and to not loose a bunch of money the one dollar bet came about. Well just one dollar was not good enough so the looser had to sign it. Thus the signed ones came into existance. Loosing a dollar is not that bad BUT when you have to sign it, It becomes personal. I still have every one that I have won. Onebowtie, The Hood, Onebadapple, just a few from the collection. I will be looking to add a few this year to the collection. Junkie

What began as signed ones has turned into an actual tourney at the ASA venues.......

We now have the "Smackdown Championships" 8)


This is contested on the SIMS range every friday morning, and let me tell you...... it's brutal.


You gotta be ice water to walk away a winner. Ain't no such thing as "quiet on the line" when you're in a Smackdown Challenge. :shock:

Past smackdown champions (from '04) were ....... me, onebowtie (current champion), Grey Eagle, and Ivorytooth I think........

But rumor has it that onebowtie won't be attending Gainesville so the title will be up for grabs....... which means I'll be getting on the plane home with it.... :tongue:

I have no idea... My agent (thedarkarcher) is making all my travel arrangements. I'm told that it's a pretty swanky outfit though. I'm just looking for some warm weather...... or warmer than 12 degrees anyway.


Send a PM to tda and he can fill you in. All I know is that we're flying out of Dulles International and arriving in Gainesville Thursday afternoon. I think Mark Thompson is picking us up so we don't have to do the rental car thing.

I'm just looking forward to seeing everyone again. Can't wait.

The rules for the signed one have to be determined prior to the event..... Generally, the winner of the contest collects a signed one from all participants.

On occasion, a signed one will be put up on a given target. The separate signed one has to be agreed upon by all members prior to anyone shooting that particular target, and it's usually for a certain ring.

For instance, obt challenged us to a separate signed one on the practice range in Illinois. you had to hit the 12 to win. Of course...... he hit the 12 :shock:


And tda......... I noticed "SPECTRE" isn't among your list of trophies...... 8)

That what I said above Darkside, is what makes signed ones special. There is a certain amount of smack involved. It is all in good fun.

OBT's collection is quite impressive. :D Just remember, a signed one doesn't have to be a one you know. :D
