Give me an idea of the speed you are getting out of your set up... let me know what the set up is and if its 3d hunting etc...

this should be quite interesting to say the least :)

With todays bows, it is pretty easy to get enough speed for 3-d.

I can get enough speed out of my pro-elite with xt3000 limbs to get DQ`d from an ASA shoot at 29" draw and 5 grains per/lb.

2004 Hoyt Pro-Elite XT3000 limbs........@ 5gr.=288.........3-D
2004 Hoyt ProTec XT2000 limbs..........@5.42gr.=284......3-D

My 3d bow is a little on the slow side for my 28" draw but its a real tack driver.

Target: Browning Oasis, 63.5lbs, 310gr arrow = 278
Hunting: Storm F28, 71lbs, 365gr arrow = 280

ok, this is a custom built bow : enhanced by a company called Monster bows Inc. they are in Brighton Mi.

they took my bow (2004 Oneida Black Eagle LF) 50/70lb: installed a set of stealth cams on it (cams from a 2000 model year bow) did some other tuning and tricks...this bow is fast and quite..i have had 3 bows done by them and they do other bows too . not just oneidas

1: Black eagle conversion: 59lbs: 95%let off: 29in draw: dyna 97 string: 315g arrow: 297fps

2: Stealth oneida: 50lbs: 95%letoff: 29in draw: 450+ string: 315g arrow: 280fps

and yes they are truely quite...

Seriously, Last year my old set up did 284 fps.

This was a XT3000 UltraTec at 54# with 8125 custom strings and cables.

Gold Tip UL Pro 22's. 27"draw.

Haven't checked the new rigs yet. I guess I'd better get to it though before I waste a plane ticket.....

My 3D set up for right now is 04 mathews LX set at 25.5" draw at 80% 65lbs shooting a 325grn arrow. Speed is 277fps. The bow is not very fast at my draw length. But most bows are not! It is very smooth and accurate.

Skip, how about an average blistering speed of about 175-85fps and that's with 550-650grn arrows (woodies) smoken! Bows range from 55-65lbs recurves for hunting and 3D.
Yes, I snuck on in here in the general section you know how "us" stick shooters are? All right... I'm headed back to the dark side back to the trad section! :-o
You guys have fun.

Out for now

Now thats some speed :)

As effective as 300 fps with a good shot, and certainly brings with it its own rewards and feelings of accomplishment... :)

Good job!

I was getting 308fps out of my C2 at 63lbs and 311 out of my LX at 62lbs last year, both at 30" draw and about 5gpi in arrows.

I have two Ovations this year, the speed is down, but the shooting is good. I need to shoot them through the meter some more. One was shooting 288 with the same arrow used above in testing.
