My son Matt had a good morning, that is after we got his truck unlocked down at the gate. He accidentally hit the lock when he got out to open the gate and we worked with a coat hanger until 6:30 to get it unlocked. Of course the truck was running.
Thursday evening Matt shot at a doe and shaved her back. Looking at the video, the doe ducked big time. I had told him and my son in law that if they are skiddish they will drop so aim low.
We got on stand late after the truck incident but settled in a little before shooting light. About 7:40 Matt calls me to tell me he had one down and watched her drop. It was the one from Thursday evening. He held low on her chest and she ducked putting the Montec through both lungs. She ran 20 yds and fell over. I told him he ought to stay on the stand for a little while as I've seen a good buck moving around. Less than 15 minutes later he calls me again and tells me he has another one but didn't see where she went.
I stayed a while longer on my stand on then got down to go take a look and shoot pictures. We had good blood then it would stop to nothing but small spots. We were on our knees for part of the tracking job. We found her and she had gone maybe 60 yds through woods and not in a straight line.
Matt had a cleaning chore to do after that. :D Here's some pics, the arrows show how close to the same area the two were standing. We have it all on video and I'll post that this evening sometime after I work on it. Right now, I'm going to take a nap! :D
