Went out tonight with bow in hand and saw 18 does, I video'd two coming in and the stopped and got on there hind legs and proceeded to kick one another, the biggest doe came into my mock scrape where I put my urine and stuck her nose in it, turned broadside as I was at full draw. She was 10 yards, I released and hit a little twig and hit her kinda far back, I tracked her to the creek where she crossed it so I decided to let her bed down and I will start the trail again in the morning, I hope I find her, I hate when that happens, it makes me sick to my stomach.
As I was tracking her I found a stand on my property, so That stand is now in my garage waiting for the owner to come recover it so we can discuss why he is on my property. It wasnt a very happy evening.
I got all the action on video and I watched it when I got home and the arrow hit her back by the last rib which isnt good, I had a great blood trail so I hope she lies down tonight and I recover her in the morning.

Ooooooccchhhh, that's gotta hurt! Sorry about the bad luck man! :( That is hard on a guy to screw a shot so close! You should be able to recover her in the morning if the 'yotes don't find her first? Good luck

I will also be VERY interested in learning more about HOW and WHY someone else had a stand up on YOUR property! :x Any clues to who it may be and do you think there will be retaliation by them stealing any or all of your stands? Please keep us posted on both situations turn out and best of luck to ya on both!

GM, you'll find her in the morning but as Cornfed stated, hope you get to her first.

I look forward to the stand question being answered.

I know who's stand it is I just found out a few minutes ago, it is the neighbor to beat all, I brought his stand back to him and told him if I find him on the property or his stand I will prosecute, He was actually going in from a mile away to get there, He had seen some of my trail pics and thought it was alright. I further explained to him that trespassing is a crime and I am not messing around, I just got off the phone with Jody Hadachek and the phone rang and it was my neigbor asking me if I seen his stand and I said yeah it is in my garage and he didnt know what to say.I dont think I will have any problems out of him at all, but time will tell.
I am sick to my stomach about haveing a bad shot like that at only 10 yards but at any yardage, I am hitting the trail at first light so I hope I recover her, It is 10 degrees right now so if the coyotes dont get her I will be o.k. I will post tomorrow on what i FIND.

I think you will find her pretty quick GM.

You don`t get good blood from a straight through gut shot. I am betting you exited out the liver. She will be close by in the morning! 8)

Well guess what I went out looking for the doe this morning and I crossed the creek and went about 50 yards and I found a gut pile, I am pretty upset, I am not sure who found it or who took it and probably wont find out, I wasnt a happy camper, The drag marks head in the opposite direction to the adjacent property, I know who hunts it but I cant throw out accusations. :(

Man, what lowlifes. Did anyone in the area know that you hit one? Seems weird that it was gone so quick without anyone knowing it was there somewhere.

I have been on the recieving ends of stolen stands myself. I have had a couple of stands stolen, and a ground blind vandalized in the last few years. What ever happened to respecting the other guy? Sorry to here about your doe? It is a horrible feeling not being able to recover your animal. Unfortunately we have all been there one time or another. I know A guy that put a solid hit on a nice buck that would of been in the 150's to never recover it. Made it into a swamp and never found it. He has not hunted since.

I have had ONE experience like that! About 10 years ago my Dad finally connected on a true bruiser of an IL buck with his bow. The buck took a broadside shot at only 10 yards in the standing corn. My Dad has seen the buck crash through the corn and then run down into a huge and very deep draw (ravine). It was shortly before dark and he had NO help. He decided to let the buck go overnight until he could get ahold of me for the follow up the next day! I will never forget the disgust and heartbreak when I discovered the buck in the very bottom of the draw in a small trickle of water. His head had been hacked off right at the throat patch!!! A perfectly fresh 300# whitetail and the only thing they stole was my Dads "trophy"! We never did have a clue to who stole his prize? We were the only people that ever had permission to hunt the 200 acre patch of my Uncles? Woldn't it be neat to actually catch some lowlife pulling that kind of BS?!? :x

Gander Man, that stinks somebody took your deer buddy. I know how you feel, early this season my i watched my 15yr old nephew arrow a large doe(what would have been his first bowkill)- the hit looked a little far back so i told him we better back out and wait a few hours. We returned a little while later only to follow a decent blood trail to a gut pile. I think i was more upset than he was. The only good thing that comes out of a situation like yours is- at least she wasn't wasted.

Wow, terrible news. I heard a story last year that sounds even worse than someone recovering your deer while you were waiting to track it. A guy at work shot a small buck during gun season and the deer ran a hundred yards or so before falling dead maybe 20 yards off a road. As the guy was walking toward his deer a truck pulls off the road and a couple guys jumped out, grab the deer, throw it in the back of their truck, and drove off! He said he started running and yelling when he seen what they were doing but they were gone before he could get there. These stories amaze me, I wonder what they tell people on how they obtained these deer?

Well the deer or I mean gut pile was just across the fence on the ajacent neighbors side and yes it is the neighbor who had his stand on my property, So I can only asume it was him, Either way it is a shame that a person who calls himself a hunter is actually a @$%&@#$ $%#&
Well atleast it didnt go to waste, I am going back out tomorrow to try my luck and I will have my camera in hand again, I will also if I get one keep the camera rolling in case I run into the neighbor which for his sake I dont, But I hope to get a fat Doe or the buck I am after which does go onto the neigbors that is why he had his stand where it was, But I need the meat I am out completely now I ate my last steaks the other night. I will let you all know how I do and thanks for all the kind hearted words.
