Question for those of you who have trail cams. How often do you check them? I have been going, on average, about once per week but have only had it for a month and a half. I think as winter settles in I will probably check it less often, maybe every month or so. Once the deer yard up I don't expect to get as much activity but we will see.
Also, how often do you move yours to a different spot? Mine has been on same tree since I got it.
Thanks for any input.

I check mine every 7 days and I always set mine up and make a mock scrape making the deer come to me and they will continue to come to the scrape year round, I also use 3 camera's in my area this way I can get the coverage I need without moving one around and missing something. I hope this helps but I feel a mock scrape is the key.

I'll check mine once a week also, I feel that I don't want to disturb the areas any more than that. I also will hardly ever leave any of my cams on the same tree for more than a week. I just pulled a couple of my Digitals yesterday not wanting to let them set out in the sub zero temps we are having for the next few days. If it "warms up" a bit , I may try to set them back out. I did and will leave my Deer Cams out all year long though, they also have a super fast trigger speed that won't/doesn't slow down with the drop in temps. I also don't have to worry about severe cold damaging the TFT LCD monitor. I've got many excellent pics in some extreme cold with my DC-200's, so I'll let them do the work this winter as well. 8)

I have a follow up question if you don't mind. Does the flash ever spook the deer from coming back?

That is a good question Michihunter and one we have all wondered about at one time or another.* I have done some searches on other message boards to see what people say on this topic.* Some people say they have seen it spook them, others say it does not.* Some people say that just to be sure they don't put the camera near a stand they want to hunt.*
I have had mine for a month and a half so I do not have a lot of experience.* But from what I have seen I would say it generally does not bother them.* I have 4 pictures of a 3 1/2 yr. old buck and he continued to visit the same scrape the camera was aimed at.* I have hundreds of photos of the same doe families and it does not appear to bother them (they keep coming back).* I saw the flash go off once when I was hunting the area and the deer near by did not seem to be alarmed.* Cornfed posted several pics here of a real bruiser that someone has gotten several pics of as he visits a feeder.* This was a monster of a deer and he came back for more pics on other nights (see pics at end of this thread --->To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. I guess only the deer know for sure.* I will say that I don't know how scared this fawn was but I gaurantee it was walking around blind for a few minutes!* *

I usually pick mine up and move it every week. But I have left it for 2 weeks a couple of times and it always seems that the 2nd week is always better than the first. Less scent left after a week would be my guess. The problem is that I'm too impatient to leave it that long most of the time.
