I received this today in a e-mail...I thought I would share it with our ASN family and our Storm Shooters. I would like to thank Jaimin for his review of the Storm Elite 36. :D

Subject: Thanks for the module and here is the Elite review

Dear Edgell,
I am sorry i had not responded to your letter as I was waiting to see if the module arrived in the post. I am glade to say that it finally did and the 27"cam workd perfectly. However you have sent another cam which appears to be the same one that was fitted on my bow originally which appears to be a 28"cam. Here is the review of the elite.

The Elite is a wonderful bow and though I have shot many bows it surprised me. I think Storm has a great future and should be marketed in Europe and South Africa. though i have not tried the other bows in your range I beielve that my decision to purchase the Storm was the correct one.

I will begin with my compliments to Storm for retaining a wonderful feel to the handle that i first encountered with the Clearwater MX 2000. This feel is excellent and the two side plate features with the option of having a rubber grip are appreciated. However here lies the difference between target shooting and hunting and this bow sqarely finds a place in both fields. Target shooters look for certain things in a bow before they purchase it. The very first is the handle, when one places their hand into the bow the feel has to be right, not too narrow not too wide. Examples of such bows are the Apex from the mathews range which has its handle moulded into the riser. This basically limits the user to either liking the handle as it is or not. The idea is obvious in that during competition one gets as little as possible of the hand on the handle to reduce torqueing the bow. This however in my opinion has to be balanced with a confortable feel especially when one has to shoot the bow 144 times in a full FITA competition. After a while the narrow handle begins to eat into your hand and eventually one has to rest the hand. Not so with the Elite. The opposite is having too wide a handle especially with hunting where bows are used in cold weather and the archer is forced to wear a glove. I guess this type of handle helps in such cases but really is a deterrant for the competitor. Once more the elite out classes many of its competitors by giving both options to the buyer without extra cost. So if one requires a grip then the rubber grip is your man, alternative if you are like me and need it for competitions the face plates are your ideal grip. In case you need a little wider grip you can make your own slightly wider face plates and fit them onto the bow.

Next the Cams. There are many on the market and it makes it impossible for people to go through all of them. My way is simple. I pull the bow and if I like the feel I move to the next step. Agressive cams are good for speed but my point is that speed is not everything. A balance has to be found between speed and accuracy. I guess if you plot these two lines on a graph, I am looking for bows where the two lines intersect, which basically means a bow that is resonably fast but is forgiving. This throws a lot of bows out of my list. I needed a bow that will be good in both 3D as well as target archery. Forgivness is paramount in Target archery so I was on the look out for that but I could not afford two bows seperately for the two events so a bow that fitted both types would have been ideal. Don't get me wrong there are bows out there that fit this profile Bowtech does a couple in their range and so does Mathews. Recently many manufacturers have been going for the cam and a half system and the hybrid cams, which are all geared up for this type of a bow. The Bowtech has a solid hard wall. Once the bow is pulled back, there is an audible click which does not allow one to pull the string any further. I guess the idea is that an archer will always anchor at the same place. Mathews Cams are far too aggrisieve for me so I have opted out of them. I get the distinct feeling when i shot the Ultra max with the Max cam that the string once released was doing a kind of road runner effect where for just a moment the string and my arrow were actually paused in space before they kind of cuaght up to the fact that they had been released. It really was a wierd feeling and i just could not get the surprise away no matter how often i shot the Ultramax. The wall on the ultra max was also solid with no give.

The Storm eilte allows the shooter to go a little further with the design of their cam. So when i anchor and begin the back tension process i have this slight elasticity which provides me with a little feeling of comfort and less mechanical, almost like a bow that was personally made for me by a human being. There is this unque feeling of the human touch to the elite which i just have not found in other bows. It provides me with almost a nostalgic feeling where I can imagine a craftsman working on my bow and imagining an archer shooting it. There is pride in the manufacturing of this bow. Every thing about it tells me that the elite is not mass produced on a factory line. As the string comes back to anchor there is a gentleness in the bow that is deceptive.

Decpetive is the right word for this bow because though it seems gentle and coxes the shooter to shoot it with confidence it is not slow. the speed is what really is decpetive. This bow in all senses of the word is fast, but you just don't feel it. Shoot it and the balance is poetry, it really has no kickback. The bow simply sits in your hand and gently tilts forward especially if you are using a sling. It pays in heaps to really set the bow up right. However I was suitably impressed to find that the bow balanced even when it was bare, which was amazing. The bow is really light and the balance takes away the top end or bottom end heavy feel.

The front of the bow has a steel insert which allows me to feel comfortable putting in a stabilizer and tighten it properly and yet when I remove it I do not find bits of aluminium coming out of the threads which is a sure sign that sooner or later you are going to have to re-thread. Limb savers, this vibration softening that vibration reducing blah blah blah.... Heard it all. The Eilte just sits deadly and silent, shot after shot with no add ons, the bow just shoots the same, with no vibration. Its unreal uncanny and most of all too perfect. There are few things in this world that come near to perfection however in that short but talented list sits the Elite.

The only thing about the Elite are the colors in the target range which are plain. No fancy artistic state of the art prints. Simple, plain solid colors. Perhaps this is unique like the rest of the bow which is simple, elegant and understated, nothing to give away the decpetive force this bow has, but I gurantee you it will satisfy every shooter, just make you think after every shot if the arrow actually left this bow or the one next to you which let off with a thawck.

I have been shooting the bow for the last six months. I have improved my scores by approximately 45 points where now my average is 345/360 compared to 300/360 and they are getting better every week. I beieve that a suitable bow does make the difference and getting a class manufactrer like Storm to set up your bow makes a difference. I can acutally talk to real people who actually listen to my wingging which other manufacturers don't. My confidence in the bow keeps going up and I hope to use it in the next IBO world championships in 2007 when Team kenya will be returning to Snow Shoe Mountain.

Most competitors that I have talked to and who have tried the bow have been really impressed by this bow. Expect some great results from shooters who are shooting this bow.

Thinking of changing your bow, please check this bow out and try it before you make your decision. This is a jewel and it is rare. I am absolutely satisfied with its performance. My only question is will Storm be able to better one on this next year or will the Elite reign suprem in the all rounder division.

Great review! Jaimin did a wonderful job of creating an image of how the Elite shoots and feels. Being an owner of one myself, I could relate to everything he said... it''s true! The grip, the smooth, forgiving nature of the cams yet a speed that is decieving, the nature of the aftershot being totally dead in the hand and being able to shoot it with an open hand and not worrying about it jumping out of control... WOW! Superb!

And all that coming from an accomplished tournament shooter no less! Congratulations on your improved scores with a bow that is not a dedicated target bow, but a master of everything! It tells what is possible with this bow that is equally at home in the woods as it is in competitionn. Wishing you many Golds in your future Jaimin!
