Welcome to the Friendliest Archery Site (dot net...) on the Internet, Tarrant County Doe 74!

Yup, it's me Tejas Raz.... Scott, that you met this weekend. Was that a good class or what! I had a great time, learned a pretty fair amount of stuff, had fun shooting, and best of all, met a bunch of really nice folks. Wish I'd picked up some more of the names and had gotten some emails, but then again, I'm on this wonderful site pretty near hourly and I get on TBH fairly often too. I'll be steppin that up over at TBH.

So, glad you made it over here! Hope you stay a while and meet the folks... they're a great bunch too! I'll hollar at ya in a pm today.

Oh, by the way TC Doe...

See that lterry name right above here? That's my very good friend Londa Terry. She's our Super Duper Storm Archery Technical Bow Setting Up Wizard and has forgotten more about bows than I'll ever know type person. Reason I'm mentioning this all, besides the fact that I shoot a Storm bow, is that Storm Archery is working on a special Ladies Edition bow! That's right... everything matched towards the ladies or those others that don't have 30" draws! I mean everything about this bow is going to be scaled down to perfectly fit the distaff archer. Good speeds at YOUR draw length, weight of 3 pounds, grip sized just right for YOUR hands, etc!!!

And what's more... They're specifically ASKING for YOUR participation in designing this bow! Got any desires you always wanted? There's a thread in the General section that you can post in, or go to the Storm Tech Forum down in the middle part of the front page... Technical Advice area. Storm is the second one down.

There! Now you know about it. Spread the word among our Texas Ladies! Get em over here and posting up what they would like in a "personal" bow!

How 'bout that?

Later!

If you meant T-Raz here, I'm not quite sure... Never heard the phrase before.

<actually didn't hear it now either...>

Maybe it comes from the word wizard. In that case, I'm not, cause my friend Vidoni took the pics.
Maybe it comes from the word Witz, the joke. In that case, yes I am. My friends and I often help each other make funny photos.

I sure would appreciate the translation here.

One thing I'm sure; it's nothing really bad.

Not on ASN.

Fil,
Wiz is short/slang for Wizard. Like on the Wizard of Oz song...in English...

We're Off to See The Wizard

Follow the yellow brick road, tra la!
Follow the yellow brick road, tra la!

Follow! Follow!
Follow! Follow!
Follow the yellow brick road
Follow the yellow brick road
Follow the yellow brick, follow the yellow brick
Follow the yellow brick road!

If ever a wonderful Wiz there was
The Wizard of Oz is one because
Because because because because
Because of the wonderful things he does!

Oh, you're off to see the Wizard,
The wonderful Wizard of Oz!
You'll find he is a whiz of a Wiz
If ever a Wiz there was.

If ever a wonderful Wiz there was
The Wizard of Oz is one because
Because because because because because.....
Because of the wonderful things he does
....(whistled) because of the wonderful things he does

You're off to see the Wizard
The wonderful Wizard of Oz!
You're off to see, you're off to see
The wonderful Wizard of Oz!

Oh, we're off to see the Wizard
The wonderful Wizard of Oz
We'll find he is a whiz of a Wiz

But I prefer for myself...

If I Only Had a Brain

I could while away the hours
Conferring with the flowers
Consulting with the rain.
And my head I'd be a-scratchin'
While my thoughts were busy hatchin'
If I only had a brain.

I'd unravel every riddle
For any individdle
In trouble or in pain
With the thoughts I'd be a-thinkin'
I could be another Lincoln
If I only had a brain.

Oh I could tell you why
The ocean's near the shore
I could think of things I'd never thunk before
And then I'd sit, and think some more.

I would not be just a nothin'
My head all full of stuffin'
My heart all full of pain
I would laugh and I'd be merry
Life would be a dinglederry
If I only had brain.

OK, I'm hip...

:D

And thanks for the lyrics, LD, those are among my favorites for a long time...

Let me repay. This has been sent to me by a friend, Valerie EagleHeart Meyer. Some years back she suddenly stopped sending her inspirational e-mails. I suspect she has left this World. But she's fondly remembered.

AN INFINITE STORM OF BEAUTY

"When we contemplate the whole globe as one great dewdrop,
striped and dotted with continents and islands,
flying through space with all the other stars,
all singing and shining together as one,
the whole universe appears as an infinite storm of beauty.

This grand show is eternal.
It is always sunrise somewhere,
the dew is never all dried at once;
a shower is forever falling; vapor ever rising.
Eternal sunrise, eternal sunset, eternal dawn and gloaming,
on seas and continents and islands,
each in its turn, as the round earth rolls"

I've always wanted to fly west at the perfect speed that I could watch the sun rise all day long...

I've had the chance to see one prolonged sunrise, while flying from Egypt back home, and I can tell you, you're perfectly right to wish this... It is kind of weirdly frozen scene, and an unsurpassed picture in the whole of the Universe, which is my definition of a sunrise.

Have another beauty, it's an ancient Inuit song:

The Light That Fills The World

I think over again my small adventures.

My fears.
Those small ones that seemed so big.

For all the vital things
I had to get and to reach.

And yet there is only one great thing.
The only thing.

To live to see the great day that dawns,
And the light that fills the world.

The notice at the top of every page says I should introduce myself in the Introductions Forum. I guess this is the place.

I am Clint and from the forum name you have figured out I am from Kentucky. Far West Kentucky actually. West of Kentucky Lake, not far from the TN, IL & MO borders. I am just starting out in Archery and shoot an 18 year old Jennings Sonic 300 that a friend built for me. I will shoot it till it I shoot better than it can and/or I decide what I want to do with archery. Right now I am leaning toward Target Archery, Field & 3D, but may take up hunting at some point. I am still learning and getting more acurate but also still have a long way to go.

Welcome Aboard Clint! Great to have new members!

Sounds like you're taking a good approach to your new sport. Many folks start by throwing lots of money at new stuff (which is cool still), but it is the Shooter who needs the work at the beginning! Besides, you can learn all about the available goodies as you learn and get better thus you'll make a much more educated decision when the time comes to move up to better equipment. I've got a 1986 Browning bow that I still shoot regularly. It's fun!

Got any questions along the way, don't be bashful. The only stupid question is the question not asked!

...nice intro KY CLINTster

...I like that you are already thinking about "target" archery, which actually entails "all" forms of stick and string...

...most, or at least many of us heere at ASN started out hunting with a bow first, then migrated to the "target" side of things to prolong our passion for the flight of the arrow :D

...for most of us, just shooting a couple weeks a yeere just don't get it anymore and is why we shoot something, somewhere, 52 weeks a yeere ...

...I hope you might be able to make the ASA Pro-Am held near Metropolis Illinois this next yeere to shoot, or at least see how "tournament archery" is done...it will show you how much FUN you have ahead of you in your new endevour

Hi all just thought, I'd introduce myself. I'm a 45 year old from British Columbia Canada. I shoot 3D and hunt (white tail, elk and bear). Although I have hunted most of my life; this is the first year with a bow. No luck yet. But late season is just about to start and no wet does to worry about.

Thanks

Hi, I got a birthday email today from ASN. That was very nice I really didn`t expect it. Ive been out of archery for a year or so and recently made the move to start up again. I`ve been a member of that other archery site since 03 but things are not what they used to be there. I see a lot of names here I recognize and have wondered where they had went from that other site. These are people that by reading their post`s have got me interested in and kept me interested in the sport of archery, good people, all of you. So if it`s ok I`ll make this my new home. Oh and by the way my birthday is in Oct. LastCaveman
