I just found out the buck I was after this year was killed during shotgun season. He was actually a 14 point (I thought 12) as he had split brow tines which I never saw. He weighed in at 230# dressed and green scored 169+ P&Y. I know it is hunting and that is how it goes but I was intent on getting him with my bow. I had him within 20 yards 5 times and twice at full draw only to pass and wait for a better shot (which I dont regret). Maybe next year....... :(

Wow that must be heart breaking to have that many encounters with him and not be able to get his yourself. You probably felt like you had a connection with him. There will be another to come along next year.

Yeah Mo, I have to admit , this is true. Most years when I am after a big'un, they end up gettin hit by a car. :x

I know what a bummer that is first hand.... A couple of years ago my cousin shot a nice big 8 point I had seen several times and even missed once. But it's worse because now every time I go to his house I have to look at him on his wall!!! :x :( :D

Sage, if the place was bigger I would gladly invite my AT friends and I mean that with all sincerity!! I love sharing hunts. A few years ago, I was on a real good buck and my brother in law never shot one on the farm where I hunt. I had 3 good shooter bucks patterned down to the hour and where they would come out. So I had him take his climber and told him there was this "little tree" he had to go up, well he isnt too fond of heights and he was ****ed I made him climb that small diameter tree but it was in a perfect spot ! So I tell him between 5 and 6 they will come out on 1 of 3 trails toward the bean field. Sure enough, just before 6, he calls me on the radio and says he shot a buck. He says it is as big as the one on your wall, I said, I"LL BE RIGHT THERE!!!!* :D Sure enough, 3 of em came out and he put a perfect shot on him! I didnt tape him but I would guess he would go 130+/- P&Y. I was so happy for him, I think I was happier than him !

T, thanx babe, a guy I know that knows the guy that shot it came over this morning and told me.*

Lefty & B-Dub.......I all I can say is that SUX !

Bummer Jerry! Sorry to hear that. Someone got that 9 pt I was watching this year in rifle season on the property which borders the land I hunt. It is aggravating , but everyone has to understand this is what hunting is all about. :xn_cry:

Sorry to hear about that Jerry! It really kind of sucks when you've been spending a lot of time patterning a particular buck only to have it shot and killed by another hunter. :(

awesome deer, you did the right thing by passing on questionable shots though. Your patience shall be rewarded sooner or later.
