Well, this is not exactly an archery tip, but then, it also is, because it's for archers who read this!
I'm sure you do not need all of the length of the USB cable which connects cameras, dictaphones and remote HDDs to your computer, especially if you use laptop, where everything is within arm's reach.
Until the manufacturers start producing half yard connecting cables, here's how to keep the surplus length from snaking around the table, pushing pencils and papers over, under and away, and especially endangering coffee mugs or water glasses. You know how such a cable winds around the coffee mug the moment you aren't looking? All you need is a little pull...
I'm also sure you still have some old film containers. God knows I have, and several hundreds of them. I put them on top of thin wire that jutts up from the stick, and we shoot at them from various distances. Because of the thin wire, the white (FujiFilm) containers seem to hover in the air, maybe two yards in front of the buttress. We used to destroy dozens of containers that fashion, but they seem to keep multiplying...
Anyway... save one or two for the purpose at hand. Wick the doubled-up cable around your forefinger, remove the wicked part into the film container, and leave both ends sticking out trough the little holes. Now you've got the cable as long as necessarry, but neat and orderly. I used Fuji containers because their tops sorta click shut, very nicely, even water-tight, and because I have them in hundreds from my pre-digital times.
Make holes using lhe tool for making of holes in the leather, and then cut trough the rim vertically to them. Once you push the top home, everything will hold solidly together. Unlike those tops that close over the container, they're not so good for the purpose.
:D
