...what is the best way to illuminate a new indoor range so that the lighting is adequate for all shooters across the entire line, does not allow for "glare" on shooters scopes and such, yet allows for proper "fiber" illumination and is suffient in the bale area so shadows are minimal or non existent:?: ...

...or how would one go about retrofitting an existing range that might have limitations for "new" installations of fixtures and such :?: ...

...mercury vapor, sodium vapor, fluoerescent(sp), incandescent(sp)...

...I know some of you are adept at adding diagrams, or photoshopped drawing's from your PC's...anyone have this kind of data or drawing's available to download to this thread that we could print out...

...Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to contribute to answer this question 8)

Don,

IN the better ranges I have shot at without shadows there has been flourescents(sp) mounted above and below the downrage target and good flourescents evenly across the shooting line above the shooters.

Go down to Tractor Supply and buy as many flood lights as you can haull in the Deere-A-Max and string them up :D

Then throw in some florescents to soften it up a bit. When people walk in wearing shades you know it's bright enough

Now your talking my game. You send me dimensions with heigth and width with length and type of ceiling. I can do several cut sheets for any indoor range.

I lighted a range in Oklahoma, you will not find a shadow.

I used f96 HO lamps which stands for High Output. Very bright and nobody has complained about the lighting.

Works great!

...most excellent DAN...I'll get the stuff you ask for and get it back to you 8) ...

...geez, you could very well be looking at a position of "OFFICIAL LIGHTING DIRECTOR" of this site if you can set up ranges like that with NO SHADOWS!!!!!! ...

...that kind of lighting is needed in many more shops and on ranges!!! ...

...MAYBE a new technical area :?: :?: :?: ...

...Thanks Dan, it may take till the weekend before I get the information for you...Don

we have flourescents that are flush with the ceiling at our club and they work really good.....and then added to that we have some spot lights about 15 feet from the ceiling shinning right on the targets.......

I've shot in alot of worse places that have alot more lights and not the quality of lighting.......
