View Full Version : home made lighted nocks
got this off another site. i made one over the weekend using these directions. using carbon express CX300 arrows there was no cutting/drilling on the nock to get the thill light to fit. some walmarts have these thill lights in the fishing section near the bobbers. i found them at acadmey. i plan on making more and trying them out during this spring turkey season. i will report later on how they are working.

how much do the thrill lights weigh?
i dont have a scale but someone said that the luminocks weigh in the mid 20's grain range and these thills are like 10-15 grains

Dee, we were playing with these at work the other day when Michael was showing them to me. They are bright! He says brighter than the Luminock too. Apparently you can buy them with either red or green lights, with the red being slightly brighter. With the red Thill light, it's bright enough to make a flo green nock look red from the back! I'll be heading over to Academy this weekend...
These things are favorites of the Texas hunters down here!

I'll be going by academy tomorrow and pick some up. Should be fun. Could be a good ploy shooting 3-D too. Put one in the 5 and watch everyone shoot at it... :new_rofl:

These thrill lights, what's their commecial name? I haven't seen those before. At first I thought they were chemical, but then it says in the picture you can turn them off...
Would you please add some more data? As to, are those watertight, and so on?!
Much obliged...

Thill is the Brand name on the package. They're battery operated with a little sliding switch at the end by the light. I'd have to assume that they're waterproof as they're intended to light up fishing bobbers. They are a fishing item. But they sure do sell a lot to bowhunters down here in Texas! They sell out fast every time they get a shipment in at a store.

I got 3 of them at Academy Sports...$2.25 each. They were under the name of Lucky Jack. I'll tinker with them later. It will probably be a week before I'm able to really get to try them out.

They fit inside a standard Super Nock or GT Nock but not very snuggly. That's probably why you need the stopper.
They mic'd to .157" for the top part and .158" for the barrel.

Thanks Dee. Have some GT nocks but prefer the use of a bushing. Also have some G nocks, will have to take some measurements.
