What kind of I.B.O speed do you guys like for hunting? I like around 280fps give or take

I prefer the 260 fps range, though I have used 280 and above with no problems out of my LX. I couldn't slow it down.

This year I hunted with an Icon and it shot in the 260's

I really care more about shot placement than speed. Making the shot on a relaxed deer inside your comfortable range is far more important than going Mach 2 with your hair on fire :)

I agree Skip, I want forgiveness and a very quiet bow. I love hunting with my Mathews bows.

I just shoot whatever speed the bow ends up with. Year before last (first year that I used a chrono on my hunting bow) it was 262, last year 278, this year 274...

Dead deer every year :D and none of them complained :P

The way my Camo LX is setup right now I am shooting 277. I had to use my Blueberry LX target setup to hunt one morning ( dont ask why ) and shot a buck with it. It is shooting 292fps. I ended up shooting deer with both bows this year had exactly the same results with both bows pass throughs :D. I agree with what the others have said its not the speed its where you put the arrow.

I used to be a speed freak but for the past 3 years I just set up my bow the way I want and whatever speed it gets it gets, I prefer a little slower and more forgiving. Also like a good weight arrow for penetration got burned one year with a lite arrow.

Last year I hunted with a BowTech Patriot VFT SC.

Hunting set up dropped my speed 14 FPS from my 3-D setup to 292 FPS.

I think quality arrows are more important then the speed they travel* whether they are 250 or 290 FPS :)

Never have checked the speed on my hunting setup, I am guessing it is 250-260 fps or close to it.

I am a speed nut. I like to have my hunting set-up around 290-300 fps. My '04 BowTech Liberty was 289 fps last year....what a smooth shooting bow. I really enjoyed it alot this year, had a few times when I harvested a deer and the other deer hardly knew what happened because it was so quiet.........that is one of the reasons I love archery.......silent death.....and the thrill of an up close encounter with deer whather I harvest a deer or not.... :P
