View Full Version : Finger an release
OK *here's the deal. I want some more competition so I am thinking about using a release on some shoots but I don't want to give up fingers. Now I want to do this on the same bow. What grip style release would allow me to switch between both without having to completely redo the bow.

I believe the Winn C-12 is what you are looking for.

I have a C-12 Relax Release by the way. Very different than most releases. You pull and hold the trigger to capture the string. Draw back, aim, then relax and let go of the trigger to shoot. It works pretty good and is very easy to switch over to if you've always shot fingers and want to get into release shooting... What I did. It's very short so you keep every inch of your draw. The "glove" wraps around your wrist and has a handle of sorts in your grip. Very easy to draw with this thing. The handle does get in your way somewhat when pulling arrows out of a target, but not that bad that it's not possible. Well built and should last a long time. It's a little noisier than my TruBall Short-N-Sweet release.
Right now I am working with a grip release and I am working on setting up a back tension short enough to use with my Protec. With fingers I anchor with the web between my thumb and index finger at the back of my lower jaw bone. Now with a grip release I am most comfortable with anchoring with my knuckles behind my jaw bone. I think I should have enough difference here to use a release and my fingers without changing the bow. On the releases want to use a rope on the release so I don't have to put a D loop on. What do you all think.
i use a winn free flight and trufire bearpaw ...
