Just received my new Merlin Max 3000. I was only able to get a few shots through it before it got dark. I put a spot hogg hogg it hunter with a QAD ultra rest, scott release, and a doinker stabalizer on it. I set it to around 62 lbs at my 28 inch draw, and am using some gold tip hunter pros. Feels pretty good so far, tomorrow I will start the tuning process.

What cam did you go with? I have a Max with the Omega cam and I am very impressed with it. Great bows.

I went with the omega cams. I just got back from tuning it. I had eye balled everything, and the first shot through paper was a bullet hole, (got pretty lucky). Now I will fine tune it by shooting some groups. Here are some pictures

Omegas Rule! Great looking setup. I am anxiously waiting for a supernova of mine to arrive

One more. Not the best form, but it works for me.

Great looking bow. Would like to get one for myself.
How does the Omega cam feel to draw? Is it similar to the Cam and 1/2 or Dartons CPS?
What is the actual measured ATA and BH of the Max 3000?
If you dont mind me asking, how much cash did you have to drop and that bad boy?

I had a protec cam and a half before this, and I think that the omegas are a little bit smooter than the cam.5s. The wall is pretty close to the same. The a to a is 39.75 and the BH is 7.2. It is not a speed demon, but it is very accurate.

Rhust,
Which Protec did you have? XT 2000 or 3000?
Is the Max 3000 faster, slower, about the same speed wise as your Protec.
The Protec and Ultratec were two of the other bows that I was interested in.
From a strictly bowhunting and "forgiving" point of view, which of those two bows (Protec or Max 3000) would you reccomend?
Thanks.

I have owned the protec and the ultratec with both the 2000 and 3000 limbs. I would say that the ultratec with 2000 limbs is a little faster, but not much. The max is smoother and for me is more accurate. It has slightly more vibration than the pro or ultatec, but hardly noticable. You cant go wrong with either the hoyt of the merlin. It just comes down to what works best for you. If you can shoot them both.

I have shot both the Ultratec xt3000 and also own a Merlin Max 3000 as well. Both bows are great. I would say the wall on the Merlin is just a bit more solid....and I mean they are very close to the cam 1/2. The Merlin feels softer on the shot for me and zero vibration. Like rhust said, not a speed demon bow, but the Merlin is a tack driver. I just put new strings and cables on my Merlin Max tonight and shot an "untuned" score to see how it shot and the bow shot great. The Omega cam does seem to aim very well and is easy to shoot. I have not been shooting much indoor yet I pumped out a 300 58x with the Max. Both Hoyt and Merlin are great...I would give my nod to the Merlin as I think it has a better hybrid cam design.

The Max 3000 is a great bow with a solid design. It is Merlins best "all around" bow IMHO. Many people have switched and watched their scores improve. If I recall I believe X-Ring also just recently shot another score of 300 w/59X to back up the one he posted of 300 w/58X. Not too shabby there!
