Which hoyt cam is the best for hunting and 3D shooting?

On the new bows a lot of people are using the Cam 1/2 hybrid as a good all around cam. For the ultimate in speed for 3D people are using the Spiral cams.

The spiral cams are the speed cams. They're most forgiving on the XT3000 limbs though. Very hard cam but they have a very solid wall.

The standard cam + 1/2 is charted as a medium cam, and is probably the best combination of feel and forgiveness on the XT1000 and XT2000 limbs.

Of course..... this is all personal preference but I've earned my opinion as "the archer formerly known as hoyt_pro", LOL. I've shot 'em all at one point or another for the last 15 years.

The cam + 1/2 is hoyt's best offering in history IMO.

I think that the cam.5 is the best overall cam. It has more adjustment on the cam so you can play with the draw weight some. I use my protec for 3-D, hunting and indoor and for indoor I drop the weight 10 lbs. I have to adjust the cams to make up for th longer draw and this allows it. Also if you are trying different releases which causes different draw lengths then the cam.5 will offer more options. If you are set with your draw and release then the spirals will work good if you are after that little extra speed.

i would think that would be spirals for 3d and cam.5 for hunting but that is coming from someone that right now (not for too long) has a mathews in the bow case

i know that i will probly get spirals for a tournament bow

evreything monte said is right on. i love my spirals on the xt3000 limbs. they are a bit harsh on xt2000 limbs but they force you to pull through the shot. if you have a "soft" shot, the spirals will tell you.
