I had a couple deer hind quarters smoked at the butcher this year. My friend has them smoked every year and he just raves about them and says he usually eats most of it before any gets in the freezer. Will I like it alot and will probably have some more done next year. Anyone else here have theirs smoked.

Sounds good to me I have never had it, maybe you could send me a sample packed in dry ice
I have 2 10 pound venison hams made every year. I use a ham kit made by Lems and smoke them myself they are great. You mix up the cure and let them soak for a week then inject the seasoning with a supplied needle and your all set. It takes several hours but in the summer when the weather is nice drinking a few beers and cooking in the yard is relaxing :D

28lx: That sounds real good, you have your own smoker, I might consider that, does sound like fun out on the deck drinking beer and cooking deer, life is good huh.

Love the smoked venison... Hey, how long do yall keep jerky around? I am thinking it isnt like regular meats, like I guess thats what makes it jerky in the first place.
