When I get home I'm gonna put together a setup for 3d and spots. The same bow is gonna have to do both. The bow is a Pro40 Dually and for a sight I'm gonna try to pick up a CJ Ants.
How about a recommendation for a good scope and stabilizer. Price is a definate issue, and I'm not afraid to go used. Most of my experience has been with hunting stuff, not target equiment and I need an idea of what to look for.
Also what do you think I should go with a V bar?

I have a Patriot Dually and like the Super Stix stabilizer on it, I recently acquired a 24"doinker I'll play with as well. I'm a little more partial to the Super stix for the fact that you can adjust the amount of weights and their position in it to whatever feels best to you. As far as a Scope I'm partial to the one CR puts out. I also like the Bullseye and Classic but Classics are heavy. I would hold off on the v-bars at first, I found my bow balances better by just having 1 stabalizer bar offsetting the sight. Which is also a short Super Stix. If your using a lens and want one that does both 3d and spots most stay around a 3-4x lens. I prefer the 3 for 3-d alot of people find the higher power on a 3-d course makes it harder to identify a spot on the target. I would also recomend a glass lens as opposed to a plastic I think they're a little clearer but also a little more pricey.

Personally I prefer the 30' Doinker stabilizer. As far as scopes I have the Classic Magnum but want to get the smaller classic scope with a 3 x lens and a up pin with the blue .019 fiber optic and the Pro Light DX, a friend has this set up and it is totally awesome and a dream to shoot. The v bars are a very good addition, and will make the bow hold like a rock, I recommend the Doinker setup for this also. Good luck, there alot of good choices out there today, this is what I like and would recommend, Dave

As long as you are not hunting I would go with a 33-36 inch stabilizer. Also serves as a very good "foot" for the bow when not shooting. That size stabilizer has been found to be the best (according to many I've read). I agree with FletchH an nix the v-bars. I too use an offset bar to offset the weight of the sight and lens. I use stacked two ox. weights on one bow and a short stabilizer ( from wally world on my other bow. I find a 4x scope very good for all types of shooting. If you can stand the movement a 6-8x is good for target as you are able to see the x better...........
How's the plans for the Xmas shoot going?......................ck

Panzer,
I used a Pro40 Dually the last 2 years for 3D adn Field. I used a 60lb 27" Pro40 Dually shooting Gold Tip 22 Series UltraLite Pros and a AEP 30" Stabilizer System with AEP Back Bars. I put no weight in the front stab and 6oz in the back left stab bar to ofset the SureLoc Shorty sight with Thurman Elite 1.75" 4X Scope. I rounded all that out with a Gold Key Platinum Rest with Custom roller bearing launcher.
Worked great! The AEP Stabilizer system is worth looking into. Nunzio will take care of you and make sure you get it right. :D

Thanks for the input guys. I think I'll give the side bar a try instead of the vbars and see what happens.
ck,
The plans for the Christmas shoot are coming along well. We're gonna shoot the main round in the morning have a shootoff among the top guys after lunch. We're going to do it this way because there is gonna be some brass there after lunch, but they can only be there for an hour and that way they will have something to watch. There's no way we could get everyone done in an hour. I posted a thread on iit here in the General forum a few days ago. It breaks down exactly how were gonna run it.
xring,
I'm heading home with the advance party, about 6 weeks before the rest of the unit. I've got 58 days and a wakeup. :D Check your PM's.
I have a pro40. I use it for target and indoor. I have 3' Beiter extension and a 30' Beiter rod, no V-bar. I have tried one, but I felt that I didn't need one. My sight is CJ ants fita model. I have also extra weight on the back of the bow and a Doinker Chubby target. A good scope would be Beiter or Specialty archery super scope.
