Anything that has me shooting my bow is OK by me, you meet alot of great people in winter leagues...

I love it, we shoot mostly vegas style here...

Shoot an occasional 5 point or vegas tournament at the local shop. Will be signing up for the 5 spot league also, it is coming up soon. Prefer the indoor 3d shoots rather than the paper any more.

I shoot every chance i get!!! i started as a 3D'r now i think i'm a multiple venue'r :D 3D, Spots, Fita, i wanna try field this year, and hunting.... basically, if i dont have my bow in my hands every day, i must be sick! hehe

any chance i get to shoot, i'm on it like white on rice! indoor is a great thing and can really help with 3D if done right i think. So when the 3D is not going on during the winter, you can find me killin spots every day! :D

...oh heck yeah BOONE...the whole herd shoots indoor 'spots"...don't like to advertise that though  ...but it keeps us limbered up for the 3D season 8) ...

...thats a good game for any and all archers in the winter months around heere where the snow can get pretty deep out on the 3D ranges  ...

...we have probably learned more from the local "spotties" than we have from others about "form issues" and such...

...but when you get "schooled" by Joe Kapp...one of only two archers to ever score a PERFECT 560 "hunter round", and Joe did it while at the 2002 Outdoor Nationals...you tend to listen when he speaks PDT_Armataz_01_34 ...the only other archer to ever score a perfect 560 hunter round was Terry Ragsdale...another outstanding archer...

...BoB Webb also shoots here locally and is right there neck and neck with Joe on the 20 yard targets in the winter circuit 8) ...

...last I knew Joe Kapp was shooting a BARNSDALE "custom"...and I saw Bob Webb just the other day and he said he has recently switched to MATHEWS after many yeere's of shooting for MARTIN...both of these guys are TOP SHELF and are indeed a very large part of why our entire family continues to shoot the various archery venues we do today 8) ...

You should come to KC on Jan 22 and 23

Should be good shoot.

Joe kapp is one excellant shooter. I agree this indoor is fine way to tune. Its a game of perfection, My 300 56X shows I still have some perfecting to do :x

Now there is a differance from practice scores and tournament scores. Pressure is amazing for 20yrd shot. My 300 56X is the best tournament score. 300 20X is best Vegas score.

Kward has the right idea. She said Dan its just 20yrds. Someone needs to tell my brain that on them last ten shots.

I'm tryin my first one  in KC in Jan. Never done it before PDT_Armataz_01_03 , but like others have said, if I'm shootin', I'm havin a good time  I spend HOURS @ 8 yds in my garage when there's nothin else (shooting wise) to do....... :P

Perfect 560 Hunter Rounds. There are 3 perfects now. Dave C. shot a 560 Hunter Round at the NFAA Outdoor Nationals at Watkins Glen this year. No one has ever shot a 560 Field round. Wonder who will be the first to do it. You have two 80 yard shots in the Field round but nothing over 70 yards in the Hunter round.

Dave C. shot a 559 Field round on Monday at the Nationals. I don't think that was his first one as I seem to remember him shooting a 559 Field round at the Sectionals or New England shoot either this year or last year but I am not certain about that.

I LOVE indoor...it is what got me started. I have yet to shoot a 60x in competition, but I think this is the year...if I can reserve enough time on the range. Done it multiple times in practice since I started using a scope...anybody here know if we are going to be starting any indoor leagues from this site...would love to get involved!

Hey Jay actually if you look at most people's score cards the 80 yard walk ups are both usually twentys. We usually mess up the middle range "Gimmies"!

Hey DD you are shooting where these indoor days? Ken

DC normally drops one on the 65 yarder if he misses one. I think the reason that a 560 has not been shot on the Field Face yet is because the
black dot in the middle of all that white is harder to aim at than the white dot in the middle of all that black on the Hunter Face. Most people I know think the Hunter Face is easier to aim at.

Absolutely, I love shooting indoors. Hard work really feels like it pays off when you start shooting your practice scores in a tournament.

The first 5 arrows and the last 5 in a big shoot gets the heart rate up just like a big buck coming in ! Stay calm and make the shot you have a trophy deer but you have to do it four more times indoor for the trophy ! 8)

I shoot indoor recurve both FITA and NFAA-I also shoot TNC (target "field" Crossbow) but normally only indoor because you can shoot recurve on the AM indoor line and Xbow on the PM line

outdoors I only shoot recurve in tournament-because of the number of arrows and the different distances I can't shoot both bows at the same tournament

Don't need an indoor range down here in "Sunny" San Diego, but there is a shop up north from where I live that has an indoor range.

Indoors is that time of year where I only need one FITA sight mark :p saying that I train outside all year round where possible.

I've never been overly crazy about INDOOR shooting....it isn't my forté at all.....however, here in the Northern tier of the USA, OUTDOOR season, at best is from early April until mid-October....so what ELSE do I do with archery for October until April? Shoot INDOORS, haha.

Also, the dog days of summer here in Illinois are BRUTAL, too....so on those really muggy days, I grab my bow once or twice a week and go to the airconditioned indoor range to string 'em and fling 'em....breaks the monotony and saves wear and tear on my body's cooling system.

...JBIRD, I was unaware that COUSIN DAVE had shot the 3RD ever in history perfect Hunter Round score...thank you for posting that earlier in the thread...this is a great place(and thread) to find out those tidbits of knowledge PDT_Armataz_01_34

...I_BOW_2...Yes, I now recall that you had said you were heading down this way, man it would have been nice to meet you...John is a fantastic guy and posesses a great sense of humor...it's almost hard to believe he's a "spottie" :P ...

...my family has shot many times with John and his lovely wife Laura(sp) and have found them to be outstanding messengers for this wonderful game of Archery 8) ...

...Indoor archery...it's not just for "spotties" anymore =D>

I do and I hate it :?. I wish the summer comes soon. I shoot FITA target faces with FITA rules.

One of the advantages living in Phoenix, Arizona “aka the valley of the sun” is year round shooting. During the nights I practice Vegas faces, Saturday I could have shot a FITA 900 round with the JOADS, Sunday I took my bow set up for Vegas and shot a 3D course—don’t ask how I did – lol* :?
In a few weeks I’ll be archery deer and javalina hunting. Changing bows so often to shoot so many different types of archery hurts my scores for sure—but Hey!! I’m never going to break records and it’s fun, fun, fun.*

Count me in for a 3Der in spot land during the winter. I'll go along with Skip on this one. Anything that gets me shooting I'm there!

I shoot spots in the winter 3-D in the summer and hunt in the fall. It keeps everything working and helps with various shooting problems.

I want to give it a try this year.

I need to wait until hunting season is over, and my 3 kids playing basketball is kind of eating up my ME time.

I went out of archery for some 7 yrs - 2 due to work, 5 for moving to a new city without any range.
Since August I went back shooting indoors for the first time in 20 yrs.

Not bad, but I feel very lonelly. I'm the only guy that has shot before in the range! :(

I will try to lay out the rules for Indoor 5 spot as simply as I can

ok there are 12 ends to a match (end meaning a number of 5 arrows shot at the target)
the end from the shooting line to the target is 20 yards.

(at ranges with an 18 m shooting line marked, stance with both feet behind the 18 m line is acceptable for 20 yards)

Target: NFAA with five concentric rings and inner 5 ring marked with X: OR

NFAA five spot with outer blue and inner white ring; innermost ring marked with X

Shooting:

Arrows: 2 rounds of 6 ends of 5 arrows per end (total 60 arrows)

Time: 4 minutes per end

Scoring:

1 to 5 each ring (each colour on FITA target)

The centre X spot (or 10 ring on FITA target) is recorded as X and has a value of 5

Score on 5-spot target are X, 5, 4 (ignore line within the blue area-there is no 3)

Any arrow touching a higher ring is scored the higher score

Maximum score is 300 (12 ends of 5 arrows scoring 5)

The total number of X's is used for tie breaking

Hey Skip, we need to move to P-Hoe-Nix so we can have all that fun. It's all indoor 'til our Jan 23 "Winter Warm-Up" shoot so everyone can get acclimated (practice freezing their tail off) for Gainesville!!!

I shoot inside my house at least every other day. If I stand in the living room and shoot down the hall to the far side of my bedroom I can get 20 yards outta it . Works real good on a rainy or cold day. Whoops not what your talkn bout huh :(
