Quick question on your releases. How do you shoot it with the rope on the release or a D loop and your thoughts on one verses the other. :)

D-loop, I prefer a knot above and below it doesn't pinch the nock at full draw so if you have to let down you won't have to push your arrow back on the string. Not a big deal for target but very nice for hunting. I've heard varying opinions on whether or not the loop should be short or long. But I haven't noticed a difference, I've heard with a short loop if you twist your hand with a T-style release and the loop is too short it will put some torque in the string. Which may be a valid point but my target bow has a short loop on it and I never noticed any problems as far as my groups are concerned. I have a longer one on my hunting bow more for a draw length (anchor) purpose plus it's a tiny bit easier for me to hook up to a little bigger loop that a small one.

I use a d-loop tied above and below arrow. Can someone please tell me what is the advantage of the nock being above the d-loop, see it alot and there has to be a good reason???

d loop
I also use a caliper release so the D loop is the best option.

Boone,

I shot with a release rope (the kind which is attached to the release) for several years. This type of release requires that the loop be wrapped around the string and slipped onto the hook (or into the caliper) before every shot.

Earlier this year I discovered the Carter BK Hunter release, which utilizes an open hook ("talon") instead of a caliper. To best exploit this feature I removed the rope from the release and tied a D-loop on my bowstring (over and under the nock). The advantage of this arrangement is I can just cock the release, grab the D-loop with the talon and draw in one smooth, uninterrupted motion.

I can't say that changing from a release rope to a D-loop has improved my groups (I'm a spot shooter), but the convenience of eliminating the extra step of fumbling around to attach the release to the string or a loop is well worth the effort in changing over. I will never go back to a caliper or a rope-type release.

D Loop with arrow in top 1/3 of space. I tie about 8-10 knots below the nock leaving the space for the nock. In this way at full draw the hook on the release is directly behind the arrow and not above it...........If I could post a picture I could show it...............ck

D-Loop Above and below gives a centered release without offset pressure.

I shoot with a D loop tied above and below the nock.

I have never found this way to be any more accurate, or easier to tune. It simply makes it easier to switch to different style releases without changing stuff around.

I use a very short d loop below the nock. I am not really sure why I use the loop under my nock but i think i heard one time that when using beiter nocks you should not use the over and under. I use to shoot beiters so thats probably why i did that and just never changed. Is there an advantage to the over and under style?
