I just got home from helping a close friend track a nice 9 point buck he shot with a smoke pole. He got it on video and I watched the video and couldnt see the hit. He was using a .50 cal with powerbelt bullets and he said he hit it in the right front shoulder area. Did I mention this was in a thick swamp with alot of fox tails, briars, thick stuff galore!? I cut the upper part of my eye lid pretty bad by one of em. Anyhow, to show you how tought deer are, we trailed this deer hours after he shot it and we went 500 yards and trailing on hands and knees in the swamp (stinky). We found were he bedded several times and I knew I was on his butt. I kept telling my buddy he gut shot it and he was like no way! I said, I'll bet ya. So long story short cuz I am tired, we found the deer still alive bedded, I heard him and they didnt believe me. When they came up to me and I had my big light on him, they believed me then, lol. So I finished him off the old fashioned way and sure enough, the bullet went in the left mid section, didnt hit any vitals and came out next to his peter. He went a total of over 1/2 mile by GPS. We were determined to find the deer and we didnt give up even when we had no blood. I found a stick with one end wet and sticking up in the air and I knew he went thru that thicket and sure enough, I followed and found blood. This was a tough tracking job. In fact, he told me that is why he came and got me.....he said I needed the master tracker, LOL. There was no way to let it lay til tomorrow as no one was available so that is why we got him tonight in case you're wondering. OK, G'nite all.... :)

Thanx guys......I know there was a time there when they were kinda like, ummmmm pesimistic.......and I was "we are gonna find him!" I didnt tell them he kept heading NE the whole time, but ya wouldnt know it if you wasnt paying attention. I have a compass on my watch. It paid off big time! When I would lose sign, I would look ahead , sometimes not far as it is think, and check NE direction and sure enough, I'd find sign.

B-DUB, now you are gonna do what??? :o [-X :-&
