I hear people in the Archery comunity complaining about the internet.....for instance differant dealers, saying there prices are under cut, and some of their products are given a bad name or misunderstood............ and some people will beleive anything that they read.............ect....
and some of that maybe be true.......
but in my opinion the internet has done more for OUR sport than anything since...........well maybe Fred Bear
where else can you get advice on virtually any product by any manufacturer.....where else can you get advice on your shooting style......where else can you talk to people from all over the world help spreading OUR sport.......
I say OUR sport because it is OUR's to build.......
Whats your opinion are we farther ahead or behind......
Just another pointless post by the puncher.....

I should ask a follow up-are pro shops worth having around? right now on ebay some guy is selling excalibur crossbows for less than the US wholesale price If I were buying one I guess it would be a deal but there is a reason why Hoyt and mathews cancel contracts of people who pull this stuff

If that dealer would read the boards, I would think he would have better ammo in his holster to be a better shop and more informed.
He may not have the time though, who knows.
I believe in being self sufficient, and this place helps me be that way and saves me a ton of money doing it myself.

I also am self sufficient, or at least try to be for the most part, and without the internet it would be much harder. There is so much info. shared everyday.

It is the information highway, you have to take the good with the bad, I feel a customer and dealer can use the net to see what products are working and which ones arent but take it all with a grain of salt.

I think it's really helped a lot of shooters.
For me, once I got interested, my nose went into the magazines. Then I started checking out magazine sites followed by more links, until I finally found a few forums. They've been a major influence on my knowledge of aspects of archery that I didn't even know existed, let alone what I was looking for. And the folks that I've met online have been very stand up people. A definate cut above the average I'd say!
It's information. It's here for the learning. It's fast. And add on to that all of everybody's experience. It can't be beat.

Well said, I agree 100%.
But seriously....
The people that squawk the most about the net hurting them are the dealers that for years could talk a fast talk and sell someone something that perhaps wasn't the best-- but was what he had on the shelf.
Like everything else in this world, knowledge IS power. If you go into a purchase knowing the options and products as well as your dealer does, you stand to have a better experience.
That being said, there still is alot of hype about some products, and that has to be waded through.
As far a price competition, I dont think that any manufacturer should relax dealer qualifications for an internet based company vs an actual retail store. i.e. if there is a requirement to have a physical location and not to work from your house, then manufacturers and distributors should make that an across the board rule, and not let Low overhear or no overhead fly by night companies get the product to simply flood the market and undercut...

As a dealer sure, it use to bother me when I'd see internet dealers and the prices they could sell bows and accessories at, but I got over it ask a f air price for an item and do my darn best to give the best darn customer service!
What does bother me about the internet is that I as a store front shop in Arkansas, have to collect and remit sales tax to the State. Now if you buy off the internet you don't pay sales tax ( some places you do) So i have all that xtra book keeping and time spent doing that stuff...plus any money spent on the web is money that the fire department, road department, police department.., schools....on & on don't get! :x
But other than that thiere nothing wrong with the net
