Whats it all about?

It's a big buck contest for the upcoming bow season. We haven't worked out all the details yet but we're trying to see if we can get enough members interested to do it by teams with members from different regions.

That way the guys in Illinois, Kansas, Ohio, and Iowa don't have an advantage.

Panzer

BTW I'll probably be in. Hopefully I'll be settled by the opener.

Hey 12X, you will be on a team with folks from different areas.

If you shoot even a 100" buck and a doe, which is worth 50 points, you will be a HUGE benefit to the team!

Whadda ya say? Can I put you down? :)

If it is all in fun and not a prize thing then count me in..

Winning a prize might put me in a higher tax brackett.. ;)

If you gentlemen will allow a hunter from Minnesota to participate, I would love to play. I have never killed a big buck yet, but maybe this year will be the one. I will be hunting in Ohio for a few days with the crossbow, but the rest of my hunting will be with a vertical bow in Minnesota. If I am eligable, count me in.

curs1
07-19-2005, 05:47 PM
Count me in might be only a doe because our bucks in south Georgia are small and small is real small lol If you get one 150 live weight you got a real good deer Horn mass is about as big as they are heavy lol

Panzer
07-19-2005, 06:01 PM
Laughing Crow, there's no reason I can see why you wouldn't be eligable with either bow in either state.

curs1, that's why were gonna try to pair you southern boys up with some of us guys up in the midwest, that way it evens out.

Big Country is working on the official rules. Keep your eyes out for them, he's gonna try to have them up as soon as his schedule allows.

what about the rest of the game out there? will points be counted for hogs, turkeys, etc?

Panzer
07-22-2005, 12:59 PM
That's be hard to do TXD. It might not be fair to some of the guys back east where they don't have hogs like we do out heere, especially in those kind of numbers. I think turkeys would make a good contest on their own, it'd give us something to do next spring.

I’ll jump in. I am hunting in CT. I’m a Doe hunter now a days to control numbers but have a few very nice bucks that I have been watching for a while. Let a very big buck walk last year to take the little veal doe that he was in front of.

Any points for Doe’s? I can take unlimite3d Doe’s here in CT and our extended bow season runs to the end of Jan 2007.

Jay

Harley,

Does are worth 50 points but you can only submit one. This is to keep the guys with unlimited does from having to much of an advantage. :PDT_Armataz_01_18:

The complete rules are stickied at the top of this forum if you want to check them out.

Harley Rider
08-01-2005, 02:52 PM
Thanks Panzer.

I thought I was going to be able to rack up the points with a bunch of Doe’s. LOL

I have several I need to remove from my yard alone. More like target practice then hunting. I donate most of them.

So I would assume after Sept 1 we will see a list of who we are teamed up with.

I'll tell you I have several private lands to hunt on and have seen some bucks in velvet already. TONS of Doe's.

bowhunter368 and A4BEST, Welcome to ASN.....and you are both OFFICIALLY in the bowhunting contest! :D

BTW, when you get a chance, post up on what state you will be primarily hunting in.

We are gonna try to keep the teams fairly even....but this is just for BRAGGING RIGHTS!! :)

Harley Rider
08-12-2005, 09:18 AM
Rule # 6...Each contestant may ONLY enter the FIRST antlered deer they harvest. In addition, each contestant may only enter ONE doe, for a total of TWO deer per contestant.

If we have a time limit why limit this to the first buck? I’m only asking this because I know my big bucks don’t start coming around until the rut is in full swing. And I have to take out a bunch of deer from several locations prior to that. Can’t let the little guys pass on some of my lands. Went to Monroe CT yesterday to check out this guys place that works in my building. I counted 11 deer lying around his yard and I never walked into the woods. He says if I can’t get rid of most of them he’s going to put out poison. Wants me to hunt with a machine gun. I told him guns would frighten off the others so a quiet bow is my best chance at taking the most of them. I’m BSing him of course. The deer would still be there if I set the place on fire. This area is also unlimited Doe’s. Yep, it’s over populated in a big way.

Big Country
08-13-2005, 08:20 AM
Harley Rider, the reason for the first buck rule is that many people only get to hunt one state. And many states only allow one buck harvest per year.

Just trying to keep it fair for those folks. This rule makes it tough on me too. I hunt in PA first, but then I go to Pike county, Illinois for a month.

Shooting buck in PA before I go to Illinois would really hurt my chances of turning in a big one. :(
