Jason-

This happens if you are running the exe. from one location and have the databases installed into the default directory. TAP should install to c:program files/the archery program

In this directory run the file "The Archery Program.exe" make sure there are two databases in there called arrospecs.mdb and bowspecs.mdb. This will fix your problem.

Let me know that you got this working.

Still the same problem. Installed fresh into "C:\Program Files\The Archery Program" and ran The Archery Program.exe Not sure what might be wrong, unless i NEED to reboot before running the program...

There shouldn't be a need to reboot unless windows says so. The only problem that could be causing this issue is the following:
The databases aren't there...-OR-....the program thinks the databases arent there.

Are you running windows XP? If not you might need to download the MDAC support file from the user area on the TAP website.

Let me know if this worked for you.

The .mdb files are there, and I'm running Windows XP Pro SP2

Jason-

Download the MDAC support files anyway.....It wont hurt anything infact if you have MDAC already it will tell you and exit the setup.

This is the first problem I have ever heard of connecting to the databases in XP. Older Windows I know for SURE needs MDAC but this should work no problem....

Explain to me exactly what you are doing to get the error? Open the program and then click the calculator and it errors out????

make sure the databases are named: ArroSpecs.mdb & BowSpecs.mdb EXACTLY...

Also by chance have you opened the databases with some program other then TAP????

I will be gone for the weekend and hopefully can check emails periodically...

I open TAP, click the calculator, and get that error. I haven't opened the files in any other programs or changed them in any way. I tried downloading new ones but also failed. I'll try downgradint to 5.7.2 and see if that helps

Did they ever work at all? This one has me perplexed. I havent ever seen anyone with XP have this problem.

If they used to work and now don't I reckon something else that was installed might have messed up your jet database DLL's.

Let me know....

Jason-

There are some advanced databases settings in windows XP that can be changed in the administrator control panel. *I would not recommend playing with them much though. *What other software is installed on your system? *I wonder if something else installed has control of your database DLL's?

Are you logged in as an administrator? *To run TAP you WILL need administrator priveledges...

We will get working...hang in there.

Yes, I am the administrator. I can't think of anything that I've installed that would mess with this. What are the settings in the control panel?

Jason-

I have played with my settings and the ONLY way to get this error is when you are running the TAP.exe from one location and the databases are in another. Please verify that the program's executable and the databases are in the SAME directory and that the databases are named like they are above. Depending
on your settings you may or may not be able to view the file type.

In your directory if the other files do not show extensions then the databases will be be named ArroSpecs and BowSpecs if the extensions are visisble they will be named ArroSpecs.mdb and BowSpecs.mdb.

Please verify that we are running everything correctly. By default the installation will create a desktop shortcut and a shortcut in your program files.

I just run the default installation and the files are there and named correctly... I'm using XP SP2 and have the .NET framework installed

Jason-

TAP is developed on an XP machine with SP2 and the framework installed. Have you tired installing on another machine just so you can see that it does indeed work. I have replicated your error message by moving or renaming the databases. So far that is the only way I can get the error message.

I will continue to work on it on this end but I am truly stumped....

No, I don't have another machine available at this time. I don't know what to do...

Click Start then run

Copy and paste the following lines one by one…..

regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\DAO\DAO360.DLL"
