View Full Version : How did you select your "log in" name??...
DonDeere
11-30-2004, 10:51 AM
...after clicking on another's "profile"...for some it is obvious...for other's I have to wonder...
...how did you arrive at the name you've chosen to post under :?: ...
...mine comes from the FACT...I BLEED GREEN 8) ...
...actually, it comes from my e-mail address that I initially had to set up about 6 or 7 years ago in order to "log onto" the JOHN DEERE website in order to download updates for yield mapping software I was using with my combine...
...I'm too forgetful about non-farming issues, so I have used DonDeere anywhere I have gone on the internet which needs a "log in" name because I can at least remember that!!! :P ...
...I think I should "TradeMark" it like LX_SHOOTER did his!!! :D ...
...so tell us...how did you arrive at your choice of log in names :?: ...
Walleye Joe
11-30-2004, 11:12 AM
16 years ago I was fishing the tailrace below the Re-regulation dam pool which governs the outflow from Clarence Cannon Dam/Mark Twain Lake in Missouri. The date I believe was on or about March 26th, 1988. The gates were open wide and the water was flowing high and fast. I was pulling Diving Smoo's crankbaits in Firetiger color as slow and deep as I could crank them. Caught my first 2 Walleyes that day. Both a little over 3 lbs. I was addicted to Walleye fishing from then on! Never fished for anything else. Several of my friends started calling me Walleye Joe and the name just kinda stuck.
My new passion for the last 5 yrs is bow hunting/archery. Walleye fishing takes a backseat this time of year! :D ...and during Spring Turkey season.
Big Country
11-30-2004, 11:28 AM
I started visiting archery/bowhunting message boards about three years ago.
The first board I joined asked for a screen name. I tried my real name but it was taken.
After trying to think up something, I rememberd my best hunting buddy who is a "city slicker", but a heck of a hunter.
His two boys are always amazed that I know stuff most of us take for granted, like what animal tracks look like, what kind of tree is that, things like that.
They took to calling me "Big Country" many years ago, so that is what I went with.
BTW, I still am not sure if they mean it in a nice way!
xring
11-30-2004, 12:06 PM
Just kinda picked mine because that's where I like to find my arrows. ;) When I was manager of an archery shop some of the other guys called me x man, or x ring as well...so I guess it just kinda stuck.

12-05-2004, 09:01 PM
When I first started cruising the net I signed on a web site. I don't even remember what sight it was. I don't believe it was even archery related. In the profile section you were asked about your hobbies. From my hobbies listed, that site generated "archerybuff" for me as a login name. So I've just kept using it.
I've thought about changing my name a few times to something a little more appropriate, for instance.......Thenickleking(because of my scorecard) or "Missedagian" ...... or "stumpstickr" :)
For now I'll stick with archerybuff.

There once was a boy named Clay,
Who loved to play in the Hay,
The hay caught on fire,
And burned like a tire,
and poor Clay went up with the hay.
That has nothing to do with my handle, but I wrote that when I was in the 9th. grade for english class. I shoot shotgunsports, and when I won my club championship one year, my friend dubbed me, Clayking. When I signed up on AOL many years ago, I used it. Mr. October
12-27-2004, 06:49 AM
Because I was "Mr. October" in one of those sexy, hunky guy calendars for the ladies . . . .
Okay . . . I can't even finish typing that with a straight face. I was "Mr. October" in a calendar though.
The calendar was made years ago. I was just out of college and a local photographer was making a
calendar for PSE&G who owned the Salem Nuclear generating facility in South Jersey. (My place of
residence at the time.) The calendar featured the outdoor sporting activities from the 12 months of the
year. My picture was a terrific picture of me up in a treestand in the magic last hour of daylight. It was really
cool. I don't have a copy of the calendar any more but I do have a big blow up of the picture. I'll have to see
if I can take a shot of it with my digi. camera and transfer it down.
Funny thing about that year . . . I just couldn't find a job until archery season was over. Funny how that worked out.

I work with dairy farms to provide the highest quality, most nutritious food product in the world! An by golly, I am pretty good at it too!
Next time you drive by a dairy farm, don't think of that manure smell as something bad. That's the smell of money (to some), and lot of DonDeere's wasted corn!

Iceman77

I was born and raised in north eastern North Dakota and I absolutely loved ice fishing. Back in the winter of 96-97 we had over 50 consecutive days where the highs did not reach above 0 degrees. Also, the wind was horrible that year often flatline winds of 25-35 mph. The cold still did not cut into my ice fishing time though and I still sat out on the ice as usual when time permitted. The day I obtained my nickname it was -45F outside with 30-35 mph winds. We were perch fishing on Devils Lake and to find them you need to drill a bunch of holes and stay mobile, therefore we would not setup the ice house until we found a large school of fish. I did not go into the truck or setup the ice house for 4 hours that morning, when I finally setup the ice house my friends came over and side I must have ice in my blood and they started calling me iceman from then on. I still love the cold so the name stays!!!

Mine says it all. 3rd place is the best I have finished in national and world tournaments. Did have a second in state one time so I might need to rethink my name.
Strutter Cutter
02-24-2005, 11:40 AM
Turkey Hunter! 5 years ago I quit hunting turkeys with a gun and started hunting them with a bow only.
Since the dominant gobbler is sometimes called the "strutter" and since I'm using a broadhead that cuts, I am a......yep, STRUTTER CUTTER!
I like the 3D ones also. I'll be glad when we get them added back to the lineup.

Mine is pretty close to my full name and how most of my e-mail addresses start.
River Rat, because I grew up on the Nueces River in Edwards and Real Counties in the Hill Country of Texas. I was always on the river so I became River Rat, that became my e-mail addy as well as my internet moniker.
After I had met many people in person that I had originally met on the internet, they pretty much just shortened it to Rat. I guess three syllables was too much for them? Anyway, I'm just Rat now to most of the people I know. I even introduce myself that way, it's just less confusing when I am in mixed company (new friends and old friends). I even had a guy e-mail me one time about this guy named "RAT" not realizing it was me, good thing he was saying nice things! I still wish I had saved that e-mail.
I am Rat, and wild hogs fear me! :D
