does it hit a deer? what in the world could of happened to this deer? the pic was taken 4/25/05, horns have started growing a bit by that time. i cant tell if this one is a late bloomer or a doe.

Possible run in with some barb wire? I recall my uncle never using barb wire for fencing in his cattle as it would scar the hides (which he sold)...

I would have to agree with imanut, i bet he got tangled up in a fence.

Probably any number of things cause the scars. The way these things will go through a barbed wire fence like it's not there is amazing to me but the barbs are still there. Bare pointed limbs on trees that won't give when brushed against. The deer also like to knock each other around with there front hooves when food is involved. Not much telling what may have caused it. I see it quite often around here.
