how do you guys hold your (thumb trigger type  ) release ? ie: vertical, 45 deg, horizontal, etc. I've been using mine about 45 and have my thumb totally wrapped around the trigger. I've been watching some others and I see them holding it vertical and "reaching" very gently it looks like for the trigger  Am I doin it wrong ?

Well,
I don't know if it's the best way, but mine is vertical and my thumb is at the first index, which is slightly wrapped around the post.
Works for me.
I can't tell how much pressure is on it that way and get a better suprise release.

I hold mine (when I use my trigger) at a 45 angle and wrap my thumb around the post so my thumb touches my index finger and anchor with my first 2 knuckles splitting my jaw bone. I don't know if there's a "best" way I think it's more a matter of preference but the important thing IMO is consistancy. If you find a way that feels best to you and you can repeat it the same way every time who's to say you're doing it "wrong". I think that if you're using the proper technique to execute the shot that's more important than how you hold your release.

I hold my Longhorn a little more than 45, I seem to be more consistant like that.

I shoot a Scott Little Goose and shoot it as BT. I paid big coaching bucks to learn how to shoot it w/o punching, lol.
Curtis Beverly told me to hold it straight and to place my finger in front of the trigger and NOT touch it. Pull back with your elbow and push with your other hand (slightly) and you'll get it w/o punching. I was going to switch to a different release, but since I am doing this one as BT then why bother. :)

I use a Carter Target 4 and hold it just under vertical. My index and middle finger knuckles touch my jaw just under my ear. My ring and pinky fingers are about 1/2 away from my jaw.

I have my pinky and thumb is a 2 and 8 o'clock position....so I guess just under 45 degrees for me.

I guess I am a bit different then the others who have posted so far.
I shoot a Chappy Boss, thumb triggered release. I use a horizontal anchor point with the index knuckle at the back of the jawbone. I also use a deep grip (with the body of the release in the palm of my hand). The trigger rests in the web between my thumb and index finger so that as I squeeze my thumb towards my hand the release fires. It works well for me and gives me good control.
