I want to put in some winter plots for next year.

I read BFO is one of the best for winter.

Any one have any experience with them?

I plant Bob Oats every year and the deer tear them up. Only green around in the winter.

We looked at the Buck Forage oats and considered them but at about $30 a bag vs. $6 a bag for whole oats we decided not to use them. We have great results with just plain old oats. We are in Brown Co and have no luck with the plot blends, oats and wheat do us very well.

Texhunter, what are Bob oats?

Arkansas Archer,

We had a similar experience - they looked fantastic, grew great (northern MI), but the deer wouldn't touch them. Don't know if it's that they prefer other sources until winter, or if they are just strange to them...but they didn't touch them at all. We were completely baffled...

Heading up next weekend to take a look - we'll see what they're like then.

I tried them myself and man were they awful...I'd rather eat brussel sprouts. PDT_Armataz_01_32 PDT_Armataz_01_32

I'll let you know next season!!! I will plant some next fall.

I have some max attract 50/50 out now, just waiting for the deer to start hitting the greenfields to see how they like it.

We just got our first frost down here last week, so hopefully things will pick up.
