CRC errors are errors caused by the failure of a cyclic redundancy check. A CRC error indicates that one or more characters in the data packet received were found garbled on arrival.

Sometime it's only an indication that your 3.5" or CD is damaged. If you're downloading, then it could be a fault in the downloaded file, or in the data transmittion (which is less likely because of constant checking between computers exchanging data).

Hope it helps...

The CRC error is a bad or incomplete download.

The only solution is to re-download.

Make sure you watch the download progress bar AND that the downloaded file size matches what the download dialog says will be downloaded. Usually, if the download progress bar shows "complete" in just a second or two, this is another sign of the bad download.

Anyone getting a "CRC error" or "insert disk 2" message, please PM me with the following info:

Operating system
Browser
Type of internet connection...Dial-up, Cable, DSL, T1, etc.
Time of day that you tried to download

I'm trying to ascertain the number of people who are experiencing this problem and get my ISP to correct it.
