The season's looking pretty hot. Birds are about and arrers a flying.
What's everybody been using that's interesting. Something old? Something new?
How about the crop of bird-special broadheads that have come out recently? The Gobbler Guillotine? Anyone using one and how does it do for you? Maybe one of the jagged edge designs?
New camo? Or a seat or the vest that finally fit what you've been looking for for years?
Post em up and let's see how the cards lay.

You probably don't want me to tell you...
that TXD was with a buddy recently hunting the old Gobbler, and on the way home they saw something out the window of the truck.
An ALBINO DEER, with Pie-Bald buddies!
They whipped it around and he got video of them. I'm still waiting to see this one. Ought to be a ...
Oh, yea. You probably don't want to know. Right.

im stickin with what ive been using for 4 years now. it is working for me with 9 birds in the past 4 years so why change. mathews Q2XL or Legacy, carbon express cx300 arrows, eastman outfitters first cut EXP broadheads, double bull T5 blind, 3 decoys, primos piggy back stacked frame true double II diaphram, primos "the freak" slate. hey tejas, that jake really liked that cow pie right? it must have still been warm. he was really excited or something. yeah, on the drive home looking out the window i see what at first i thought was exotics, we whip the truck around and drive by and they are still there. we make another u-turn and stop so i can get the video camera out. we pull back up slowly and what i saw was 2 albinos and a piebald deer. by the time i got the camera on them they started to wander away from the road, they were about 50 yards off the road. on the property next to ours. i got about a 20 sec video video of them, you can see half of one of the albinos, the piebald deer is facing the camera and the second albino crosses the screen behind the piebald, then the piebald follows the albinos off the screen back into the woods. it was really exciting. the wife has been laid out with a concussion so i havent had time to play with it and get it on the puter. when i get a chance, hopefully tonight, i will get it loaded to the pc and email it out. if someone, uh you tejas, has a place to upload it so it can have a link on here lets put it up here for others to check out. im gonna warn ya now though, we were driving off the pavement so the camera was a little shakey.

I only drew a 2nd season tag for my own county and got to hunt only 2 mornings before having to start a new job so that cut the turkey hunting time for my own season. However, I have been able to call in a few birds for my Dad and some friends. I am looking forward to hopefully getting the chance to hunt a little next week on my 5th season tag in the neighboring county. I have bough a whole new Turkey thumpin' rig and will be using Rocket Slammerheads. I'll also be making my first hunt out of the Double Bull Matrix I just picked up the other day! I'm excitied about it!!!

The new Gobbler rig worked well for me. I used my VTEC and a Rocket Hammerhead to crush this "cornfed" Gobbler last week.* 23# 10 1/8" beard

This was my first of the season in my quest for a GRAND SLAM with a bow. He's an Osceola that fell to a carbon express and a 4 bladed mechanical broadhead travelling at 280 fps. That setup has worked great for me for the last 5 years. 8 out of 10 stay in the bird. It takes energy to open the large cutting diameter, the shafts of the feathers are super tough and use up energy, the cartilage of the body cavity and then the off side feathers all absorb energy to help the arrow remain inside. AND, the gobbler feels the foot lbs of energy, which isn't THAT big of a deal but helps disorient him to start with.
I haven't tried the guillotines. It just seems like too much trouble to practice and also to carry the things around. I'm not tinkering with what I've found to be a perfect match for me.
Oh, and as far as new equipment, I would recommend a bow stand for anyone turkey hunting. I've seen Cabela's had one similar to MY invention that I've been using for two years! Dang, :( I knew I should have went into production with it! :D
