Here are a couple pix from the Cuddeback, I have added some color because the flash has a tendacy to "wash out" the images slightly. Note: for some reason I got the cam off by 5 hours if anybody is wondering about the times?

You can buy both of the LR digitals models from Cabela's website. You can also by these great Cams from Jesses hunting page and save $$$. The top of the line LR with the color LCD screen is only $319 at Jesses, here's the link. I have tried a few digitals, the Stealth 3MP, the Cuddeback, and the Leaf River. The LR is indeed the better cam! Check out the stats and compare? Just punch in "leaf river digital" in the search box.

I just checked out that link from Cornfed and they're selling the LR for 265. Hey Confed, how is the LR and Cuddeback attach to the tree? I have an old DC-100 and it has a rope that loops around the tree. I didn't see anything on the back of the LR picture.

Sorry theat was the older model for 265. The newer model is 319.

The Cuddeback uses a small diameter cable that you thread through an eye bolt located on the back of the unit, then tighten down the wingknob on the inside to sinch the unit down. After that, secure you padlock to the flange on the bottom and it's set.
The Leaf River unit uses a strap that wraps around the tree and sinches tight, then you secure a steel lock bar to the front and place a padlock on each side. However, as you can see in my pic, I prefer to simply use a MasterLock Python lock and zip it right through the unit to the tree. This offers true security and theft proofing. Granted I could still use the strap to mount it to the tree but I don't bother with it. This way, as soon as I walk up to the unit and insert my key I can either relax it enough and pull out some slack to open the cam door or pull it off and move to yet another location quickly. The Python can be found, if not at a local store, on Ebay for around $14. That is an older style Python in my pic and I'm using a newer updated version now on both my LR's.* One thing is for certain. the LR is a great cam that I would certainly suggest to anyone.
Here's a cool pic that was on one of the forums (huntingnet?) but the guy was thanking me for selling him on a Leaf River. Check out his first pic with the unit?* :D

Thanks, I think you sold me too. I wanted the Cuddeback , because I've dealt with Non-typical and had great success with the DC-100. But after reading yours and others comments the LR maybe the way to go. How does the battery cost and life compare between the Cuddeback and the LR? The LR takes more batteries right?

My Cuddebacks get 1 month on their 4 D's. The Leaf Rivers get between 2 and 3 months on their 4 D's and 3 C's.

Sorry for all the ?'s Cornfed but thanks for helping. What about the LCD screen? Is it necessary? I don't have a card reader for my computer yet, so I'll probably plug my CF card straight into my printer and print all the picutres on it. My picture printer is not hooked up to my computer so other than bringing the camera back to the computer to view the pics there would be no other way for me to tell what pictures were taken. Is it worth the extra 50 bucks to have one?
Those are some impressive deer Cornfed. Some absolutely beautiful specimens!
