this recipe is inexpensive and works as well as any I've spent alot more money on and I think is more beneficial than most. Here it is and I hope you have fun with it:

1part -Dicalcium Phosphate 50lbs bag (about $11.00)

2parts- trace mineral salt / the red and loos kind / unmedicated 2 50lb bags cost about $5.00 a piece

1part- stock salt (ice cream salt) about $2.00 for this 50lb bag

So now you've got 200lbs of mineral for about $23.00 . Good Luck with it . All these ingredients can be found at your local feed store. I know now is when people really start using minerals so have fun.

i just got a camera down today off of a salt lick. it had been up for 2 weeks and had 24 pictures gone. the area it was in was just tore up with deer sign, but i only got 3 deer pics. the rest of the pics were of the two longbeards that seem to love the small field the lick was in. it showed me that deer do not visit mineral licks very often. maybe the other minerals you have mentioned will make them visit it more often. i may try that the next time i make a mineral lick.

I'm not an authority on minerals or anything but just give it about another month or so and make sure you have it freshened up. My food plots are being used alot but not much activity in my mineral pits. I usually start to see a increase in activity in them around the middle to end of March. If you still have your camera on them then I bet you'll see alot more activity.LOL :D :D

Towards the end of march is correct for seeing your mineral spots being hit also as the bucks antlers begin to grow they require more minerals and you will see more bucks hitting them to get the minerals they need for antler development.
