My cousin and I have videod each other for the past two seasons with real good success. We both have Canon GL2's and love them. During the 2003-2004 season we got 3 kills on tape.....a 126' 8 pointer with a bow, a 142' 10 pointer with a bow, a 137' 8 pointer with a muzzleloader. We also filmed a couple of real good hunts, a 130' 9pointer at 6 yards and couldn't get a shot and a 135' 7 pointer at 8 yards, on the ground coming to a decoy, and couldn't get a shot. This past season we got 3 kills on tape.....another 126' 8 pointer with a bow, a 120' 8 pointer with a bow and a 140' 10 pointer with a muzzleloader. I also filmed my dad missing a 130' 8 pointer with a shotgun. We also got 9 turkey kills on tape last year. I absolutely love filming hunts. I am to the point were I will not shoot a turkey or deer without a video camera with me. During the 2003-2004 season, I killed a 142' 10 pointer at 10 yards......probably 5-8 minutes worth of footage. It is unbelievable footage. Perfect lighting, around 3:30. What makes this so unbelievable is that the deer had an arrow in him, right above the tail. Someone had shot him going away. There was about 3 inches of arrow in him. The way the crow flies, probably a mile and a half, there were some guys from out of state hunting (all of this is Shawnee National Forest) I would almost bet it was one of them. Anyway, it was an awesome hunt and to have the hunt on video is a lot better than telling someone the story.

That is awesome, sounds like you have had great success, o you have any plans on trying to put together a DVD or sell some of your footage to other's. I hate to see deer with arrows in them, it makes me kinda ill, even though accidents do happen.

Hey GM, i feel the same way you do.....I can't believe someone would take a shot like that....that shot had total desperation written all over it. Actually we do have a company.....The Non-Typical Xperiment. Our turkey video is available as we speak. We are in a dilema right now. We are talking with one of our sponsors now about filming for their videos....so we don't know if we can do both. We will probably film entirely for them. We have talked with them and it sounds great. Just not a done deal yet.

I have video'd some of my hunts. I wanted to video my past hog hunt last week but the weather threatened rain. I have a few hunts on video.......my favorite is the spike bull elk I called in to within 5 feet of me last year and he never spooked. I should have some real good elk video this year.

I carry a Sony super 8mm video cam,and a cannon digital camera on all hunts. I have some good footage of deer, and other wild life, but am finding it very hard to record the kill shots,as I usually am hunting buy myself, and only have so much time to move the view finder, while concentrating on the shot. Going to experiment with a couple new devices this year to see if I can put it together.

Jerry,

Great video!! Did you ever get a shot at it? I liked the way your buddy filmed it from a distance. When my brother went bear hunting last fall, our cousin went with him as a guide and to video...but they shared the same stand...so my brother is never actually in the video until the end...after he harvested his bear ( a beauty, too...well over 300 pounds)...actually, his hands made it in a couple of times...also...when he shoots, the camera was right next to the gun...so you can imagine what that sounds like when you are viewing it...all nice and quite and then...BAM...course, nothing that some editing couldn't correct...but like I said, it would have been better if there had been a little more of my brother inthe video...overall, not bad for a first video attempt...live and learn...

Just the past year we started our own Video Production business.* We are Full Draw Outdoors Productions, and 100% fair chase.* We are a group of guys from the Midwest that enjoy the outdoor experience and love to hunt ,so we thought we would try to capture the experience on tape.* Most of our hunts come from the great states of North Dakota, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.* We hunt turkey, deer, antelope, and look to feature some bear hunts, and elk hunts in the future.* We film with two Canon GL2 camera's.* We had good success in our first year, and captured a lot of great hunts on tape and footage as well.* We look to tentatively release our first video some time mid 2006.* We are 85% archery, but do some rifle hunting as well.* No fancy edits! We show the entire hunts how they unwind, the good, and the bad, and the close calls.* We do all of our own editing and have a little promo DVD that we put together of our 2004 campaign.* We feel with another solid season under our belts we can make a run at putting out a pretty good solid video.* Stay tuned!!!

I couldnt shoot as he was a spike, so he has a free pass. Starting April 18th, I hope to have some turkey huntin and a bowkill on video.

As a side note, has anyone seen that camera thingeee that plugs into your camera and you put it on the brim of your hat? I see both good and bad things with that on my initial thoughts. I'll wait to hear from someone who actually used one before I shell out the money I dont have. :D
