Just wondering who uses scent? I for one have tested many scents and have found that Hawgs works the best for me, After talking to Kevin Kreh at Hawgs Limited we got on the discussion of human urine, He explained to me that every animal including humans that our urine breaks down in minutes and becomes pure amonia, now this seemed pecular to me so I thought what the heck I will try my own urine in my mock scrape, guess what I found out? It works, check out my trail cam pic of this buck in my mock scrape with my own urine it, this is set up 7 yards in front of my stand, This all goes against everything I was taught but hey if it works I am game. What are your thoughts on this subject?

I used to believe that uninating in your hunting area was a definate NO NO, but the last couple of years I've been whizzin' from the stand, at the base of the tree and any where else for that matter and I have not seen any difference in their reactions. No spooking and no nervousness! I don't see anything wrong with it!
Really??
That is so.... Not what we have been taught for years and years...

It is crazy isnt it! I for one have even went as far to bottle some up now I know that sounds crazy in itself but I am telling you it works, definately.

I know skip this seems strange and against everything I an all of us have been taught but I have the trail cam pics to proove it works, I use my own urine in all my mock scrapes and they come in to it everytime Does and bucks.
I know one thing it will save me alot of money on scent now. I have tested this theory for 3 years now and not one deer has gotten spooked.

I have also heard that they dont care if its human or not. Pee bags are a waste of money.

I have heard of people whizzing in their on scrapes, but I still have a tough time buying into this whole thing. I am not as picky as I use to be, but I do not whiz in the area that I am going to be hunting either!

Here is what you need to do to for any skeptics out there go to an area away from your hunting site and make a mock scrape set up a trail camera nad whiz in the scrape, make sure you whiz before you set the camera up  But do this and see what happens, this will make a believer in you, My scent I use is my own and it costs nothing and works great.

I have never intentionally took a leak on a scrape.
I have went pee in the woods a few times and never noticed any lack of deer activity because of it either.

I read an article by Bill Winke and he claims you can wiz off your stand and not bother deer. Of course he didn't say anything about wizing on a scrape.

I was stunned at first myself but was in awe when I seen the deer coming into my scrape and over marking what I had left, Trail cam pics are proof also, I for one will be using my own instead of buying scent from now on.

Don't forget the beers you bought that made you go pee. Maybe Anheuser-Busch should start selling a product that attracts the deer when you pee, a special hops.

I have also been told by others in the industry that urine breaks down so quickly that we shouldn't worry about in the woods. This is also why so many liquid scents are a joke and simply don't work. As any trapper will tell ya, urine/liquid based scents may work sometimes but they are FAR from consistent. Formulations that are Gels are MUCH better to use. I have tested many different scents and absolutely nothing has compared to James Valley Scents Gels. More specifically, the JVS Lethal Weapon and Wall Hanger have been incredible producers for my mock scrape tactics. In fact, these Gels have certainly changed my scent hunting strategies entirely. They have been responsible for putting my last few P&Y class animals on the wall! I have many pics of deer reacting to these scents in scrapes. Give 'em a try sometime? 8)

Try a mock scrape away from where you hunt and set up a trail camera you will be surprised what you will see after you pee.

I honestly nevr tried peeing in a scrape, but I let it go out of my treestand whenever I get the urge.
Never, ever saw any adverse affects from it. In fact, I have videoed 135" bucks sniffing where I "went" 5 minutes after it hit the ground.
Never phased `em!

You can't argue with science. I've been doing in the last few years, and suffered no ill effects.

From my experiences urinating in your hunting areas doesn't make a bit of
difference. I do not make a practice out of it, but duty has called on a few occassions and deer activity did not cease. As far as scrapes are concerned I have heard of guys using everything from their own urine to cologne, and deer still come to check out and freshen their scrapes or mock ones for that matter. Maybe a guy should take a big dump in one of his scrapes and see what happens  I agree with Cornfed with using Gel based lures in my scrapes or mock scrapes, and on the overhanging licking branches. I have had bucks get my drag rag tangled in their horns from messing with it when I have hung it above a scrape or a shooting lane, and even lick it. It does not seem to break down as fast and I have had good success with it. I have yet to urinate in a scrape, but maybe a guy should give it a try. It seems more and more guys are doing it with good results.

When in doubt, don't let it out.
But it makes sitting still a little more comfortable sometimes to relieve yourself.
I haven't spooked any that I know of by doing this.

This is the first I have heard of this. I feel kind of silly, as much pain as I have gone thru to avoid going number 1 from my stand. I cant wait to go Saturday just so I can whiz without fear. Its good to be free.

Let me know what your results are on deer activity?

Can't say if it has ever brought a deer in for me, but I urinate all the time from my stand. Taking a dump however seems a little severe, I will go to the house for that, where I hunt most of the time I have that option.

I've never done it in a scrape before but if I have the urge when I'm hunting I go wherever. Acutally a few years ago I went on the way to my stand about 15 yards before I got to it. 3 does came in 1 put her nose right to the ground and started sniffing but it was weird the way she did it it was almos like a "huff and puff". I actually heard he inhaling and exhaling through her nose but real loud. Any way she did it a few times (as I came to full draw :D ) the she turned took a step or two like she didn't have a care in the world wasn't alert at all. Then she made her last 40 yard run  :D

Awesome, it works guys/gals I am a firm believer after last year and this year.
No joke it works!!! And I have had to go and let it rip from my treestand and had deer walk right over the spot less than a half hour later with no ill effect.

make sure you whiz before you set the camera up
Thanks for that advice  That's one picture I don't want to see on this board!
I have also urinated at mock scrapes and have seen bucks come in and check them normally without spooking many times. I got video of one checking my urine scrape two years ago. He wasn't a monster buck, but he wasn't alarmed one bit either.
