View Full Version : Sting and Cable for an F-28

I have an older F-28 (Burley Hall Days) Anyone know the string and cable sizes? It looks identical to the current F-28.

Also, on the Storm Website, I noticed that the cable and string cross over is under the cable slide. My bow has the cross over on the top side of the cable slide. I use a Trophy Taker Drop away and with the cross over below the cable slide, it comes in contact with the rope from the rest. Any thoughts?

John,

ET says to try this: You will need a bow press to work with the buss cable.

1. Take the strings out of the cable slide

2. Take the slide off the carbon rod and do a 180 or turn it around.

3. Take the buss cable off and bring it on the opposite side of the shooting string.

4. The buss cable should be the closest string to the arrow rest, in other words as you would hold the bow in your shooting hand it should be the one that is closest to the arrow.

Someone may have crossed yours.

String length 93.0 inches
Cable length 39.0 inches

Good luck...if we can assist you in any way let us know. Good Shooting.

Thanks. I will give that a try tonight. On a seperate note, this bow is quick!! It is rated at 300 +. Mine is set at 55 lbs and shoots about as quick as my Mathews Icon does at 68 lbs. (Same Arrow)

So far, I am digging this bow.....

Always glad to hear positive comments.... :eusa_dance:

Sounds like you are happy with the speed.* *As we all know...poundage and draw length can have a lot to do with the amount of speed we get out of our bows. :D

Keep us posted on how the adjustments work out.

I think I officially a lefty! (I must now change my Avatar). Had the bow for a little over a week and I am as good as I was right hand. All the problems I had with holding the pin in are gone. Darn archery is fun....

You said it!! Archery is fun!

Sometimes change is good.. :D

Have you checked out how fast your F-28 is yet?

Not yet. Thanks to your advise, I fixed the cable situation and finally got the peep to rotate correctly. This bow is nice! As said before, I am liking this LH stuff.. I see myself sticking with this bow long after my experiment is completed. She is a shooter....

Glad the advise worked. Now.................we will be waiting to see that new Avatar!

Does this mean we get a pic with you shooting left handed with your F-28! :D

I almost forgot. Is there a special rotation on the cam (Like other solo cams). I am putting on a new string and cable and was curious. The bow is supposedly a 50-60 and maxes out at 64, which would lead me to believe that the current cable might be too short, or over twisted.

Lastly, were is the sn on this bow? I would like to register it with Storm..

One last question. I noticed the new F-28 appears to have wooden side plates, rather than a slip on grip. I removed my current grip (slip on) and I shoot off the riser. (Not the most comfortable) I thought of making new side plates, but there is no sense re-inventing the wheel...

Thanks.

John...

If you bought the bow new....it should have come with a registration card. The SN should be located on the bottom limb. It is a sticker type label.

As for the question regarding the special rotation of the cam...ET is gone for a couple of hours...I will pose the question to him as soon as he returns.

I will check to see if the new wooden side plates will work on your bow and let you know.

The bow was new, but it did go through one owner who never set it up. No sticker. Is there any point in registering? No big deal on the Cam rotation. I will not have the new string and cable until sometime next week.

Thanks.

Hey John,

The question about the rotation of the cam.

ET to drawing out the information you need.* When it is completed I will attach it to a PM or e-mail it to you.* Which ever I can do.

As for the wooden side plates.* They will fit the bow you are shooting.* You can get wooden or Pacmeyer Style rubber ones.* They run about $15.00.* If you would like a set, PM me and I will arrange to get them sent to you.

If the bow was made by the previous owners it wouldn't do any good to register it...but remember although it won't have a warranty....we will be here to help in any way we can. :D

I often say, it is not the wand, but the wizard.

Consiquently, I never gave alot of real thought as to which bow to shoot. The people behind the products are the key. In the case of Storm Archery, you guys are top notch. I look forward to winning my first tournament with my new Storm Bow!

Thanks again.

Last year, I did the Pro AM (only) in TN and I did the complete weekend in IL. This year, I will definately do PA and hopefully at least TN again. Murtle Beach also sounds interesting.

I tried to get it to work and my computer seems to not like it! I just replaced my hard drive and now I have to get my settings back!
Shot the new 28 yesterday after work. It seems like a totally different bow! WOW! Super tuned by ET--I'll send you a few more to tune!!! LOL!---

lterry

I hear that! :)

Sometimes all it takes is a tune up to make like new.

Good luck with the computer problems....I know how they can be...I have crashed mine a couple of times since the first of the year....sure glad I had good tech support! :D

Hey John J!

Did you make that shoot the first part of March? Weather didn't sound to good for an outdoor shoot!

If ya did....how did that F28 shoot for ya?

Shoot never worked out. The weather out here has been aweful. Tonight, the wind is howling and I think the house might fall down!! They have another shoot in two weeks. Hopefully the weather will turn around by then..
