View Full Version : going to a shorter axle to axle
did going to a shorter ata bow feel strange to anyone else? ive been shooting a mathews Q2XL (38" ata) for the past 3 years and before that was a pse which was also 38" ata. i just havent wanted to go shorter. the owner of the shop where i shoot *gives himself the new mathews every time they have a change or new model and shooting his i have shot just about every mathews in the past 5 years. after a phone call this morn i now have a mathews legacy on its way to me. friend of a friend kinda thing had one for a steal so i decieded to give it a new home.

yes it did. I shot the shorter 31" to 34' ata bows for a couple of years, and I am back to the 37-38" bows I was shooting before the short ata's became so popular. I think the 37" ATA is a great compromise in a bow. Up until about 7 to 8 years ago anything under 40" was considered on the short end. With my draw length a little longer bow seems to work well for me, and the longer ata's seem to be more forgiving for me anyways.

My 35" ATA Encore shoots as well as any other bow I have shot to date. To me, the feel of the bow at full draw and a comfortable (7-8") brace height make a winning combination.

Micheal, you still have the Q2XL? One of our engineers (Jaques) is looking to get into bowhunting. But with a week old kiddo in the house, he's on the slim as far as buying goes. Maybe?
Lemme know.
the Q2XL and the legacy are staying with me but the pse is available. let me know what he thinks
