*This year I used some Rocket Hammerhead 4L's out of my 70# Storm F-28 E and they worked VERY well! *I was wondering *who else used BIG (1 3/4" or better) with good results.

I used to use a 75 grain Rocket Sidewinder I believe, it has a 1 3/4" cutting diameter. Awesome blood trail one of the two, second hit the shoulder it did terrible. I'm now knocking Crimson Talons to test them and have tuned as back-up some 100 grain Muzzy's, went back to 100 grain and trying to go back to some of the basics.

I have used all the above at one time or another. None are magic or fool proof.

Today I prefer the reliable and accurate 4-blade 90 grain Muzzy. It is nearly indestructible and opens a devastating wound channel. Keeping track again this year, tracking jobs averaged some 45 yards less with the 4-blade 90 grain Muzzy than comparable hits on game with 3-blade opening heads.

Data was collected from more than 80 different hunters surveyed at our local archery center.

I have to agree Mechanicals work well but I feel you have less of a track job most of the time with a good ole fixed blade head, I am using Magnus Stingers and also going to give the olw faithfull thunderhead a whirl again, I havent used thunderheads in years, I do know that the talons point is only held on by a few threads and unless they changed this year, I had a buddy hit a huge buck and the tip broke as soon as it hit the deer sending the arrow catapulting over the deer, and he lost it, Not saying they are bad but I think they need more threads holding the point on.

Well i am new to this computer stuff but enjoy reading the topics but this topic i cannot let go with out my opinion. I have been bowhunting for better than 22 yrs and i have tried most of the popular fixed blade broadheads (muzzy, thunderheads, rocky mountain, ect.) and have had good results, also have tried many of the mechanicals but was not very impressed, UNTIL I tried the Grim Reaper trocrazer broadheads. they are truly the best penetrating broadhead on the market. i have taken several deer with these broadheads including three pope and young class animals. I tell no lie when i say that these broadheads do not care about shoulder blades for i have passed through both shoulders on a 225lb 130 class whitetail. i had the taxidermist let the flesh eating beatles clean the shoulders up and you can see the broadhead hole in the bone with the three blades completly open abd the head was still in one piece. Take my word for it and try them they are AWSOME!!!!

Some guys at the shop had trouble with the blades opening on the Grim Reapers. They still recovered the animal, but only 2 blades opened.

The only thing i wish Rocket would do if possible is maybe change the blade thickness a little on the hammerheads. They leave a massive hole and a great blood trail :D

Like i said I have shot many animals with the Grim reapers and have had no malfunctions and the blood trail, well lets say this even a blind person could find the animal (massive blood trail)

Jay Lichety from Grim Reaper is a good guy and makes an awesome head, I shot the grimreaper through 1/4" ply wood and it penetrated up to the fletching and all three blades open, this was the only mechanical besides the Spitfire that the blades held up.

I have used Rocket Hammerheads in the past & they did a great job for me on deer. I also like the Rocky Mountain Gator @ 2 inches.
