Welcome to the Official 40yd Outdoor Shoot!
Many of us are really board this summer with the economy the way that it is and can not afford to take a vacation. As a result, we have decided to put together a 40 yard outdoor spot league for July through September. Please see rules below:
Shoot will begin on 7/01/09 and will end on 9/30/09 (July-September) and is to be shot in your own back yard, your club range or where ever you have room to shoot safetly
Maximum of 2 scores will be allowed for each participant each month for a total of 6 scores each
Scores must be turned in by midnight on last day of each month
Total of 60 arrows per game, ALL TARGETS will be scored with a 5 point maximum for each arrow and a best possible score of 300 points per game, X counts are to be kept up with and turned in with scores accordingly
Each Target WILL have shooters name legibly written on it for Identification to the other participants (Please Print)
Each Target WILL be photographed by the shooter before and after each game with thier name for Identification to the other participants (Time and Date stamp is not necessary)
There are no classes in this league. Any bow whether it be a hunting bow or a target bow may be used including recurves
(No Crossbows Allowed)
40yds to the target as measured with a tape measure (no range finders)
NFAA 5-spot, NFAA Single Spot, or NFAA Vegas Face targets only (makes it interesting)
Participants are required to be registered by July 15th 2009
Registration will be sent by private message to me - "Patriot VFT" - so that I can put everyone into a spread sheet
Registration simply needs to include AT Username, City and State and equipment (bow/arrow) that will be used
This is a non profit shoot, it is free to enter, there are no judges, it is based on the honor system and you will only be cheating yourself, there will be no winners or losers, everyone will be put into a spread sheet in the order of score from highest to lowest with X count included, I will post this spread sheet at the end of each month showing all scores.
Pm me with your registration request before July 15th....Thank you and enjoy the rest of your summer...

I hope nobody gets upset with this, but I have created a similar thread on Archery Talk in the Field Archery section of the forums. My thoughts were to draw shooters from both sites in an attempt to bring everyone together and hopefully spur something within the tournament archery community and get more people involved. All scores and pictures will be posted on both forums as they come in as long as the administrators from both sites do not stomp on my feet...here is the AT link:

Thanks,
Thad

Please PM all scores and pictures of your targets directly to me - "Patriot VFT" - I will be posting them as they come in....also, please note that there is another guy on Archery Talk that goes by the same name as me, only his username is "patriotvft" in all lower case and all one word. Please make sure you do not pm him by accident instead of me, I do not want to get on his bad side, he is a great guy and does not need to be bombarded with messages he knows nothing about...
Thank you,
Thad

Ok all you target maulers, here are the pics and score from our first outdoor competition between DariousXV and MN_Chick. This competition began as 2 rivals started arguing as to who the better shooter was with neither giving up any ground. In an attempt to settle the score, they decided to shoot 120 arrows at a 20 yard indoor target from 40 yards out. I have put this all together so that we can all see the outcome of that battle.
This is not to be confused with the 60 arrow 300 round that I just started on 7/1/09 and some of you are part of. That competition is now ongoing and the scores from it will be coming in soon. I will start another thread specifically for those scores.
On with the program!
DariusXV (Darren) hails from Round Rock, TX. He is approximately 5'-3" tall and is weighing in at a solid 99 pounds soak and wet and drenched with sweat which he claims he was this day as the temperature climed to over 100 degrees. He enjoys shooting in his own backyard that is ABSOLUTELY full of various types of target butts as you can see from his pictures. His shooting combination is a Hoyt Pro Elite and Carbon Express CXL2 arrows.
Here are the pics of his FIRST EVER 120 arrow dash on a 20 yard single spot target from 40 yards out. He scored the NFAA Single Spot Target as it should have been scored by NFAA Rules. He shot a 504/19x and currently holds first place in this type of competition.
MN_Chick will be his competitor which we should be hearing from soon when she turns her score in.
Lets give DariusXV a big round of applause, Afterall, nobody in thier right mind would do what he has done...

May I have your attention please!
The score and pics are in from our second competitior MN_Chick.
MN_Chick (Cindy) hails from Minneapolis, MN.
Ummm.... Due to the nature of women and thier appearance, we are unable to disclose her physical attributes without fear of a WRONG answer, so in labeling her height and weight, we will just kindly answer with a N/A.
As you can see, her backyard archery range differes greatly from that of her competitor who lives in a sand pit. She enjoys shooting on a daily basis and takes an occasional pot shot at a yearling every once in a while as it wanders onto her range just like it did on this day in the pic below. Her shooting combination is a Mission Journey and Carbon Express Maxima arrows.
MN_Chick shot a great score of 506/27x out of a possible 600 beating the score of 504/19x shot by DariusXV.
She shot very well, and kicked sand in the eye of her opponent, in what is being called the event of the year by some ASN Chatters. Lets have a great round of applause for MN_Chick for her win in this 40yard, 120 arrow, 600 point round.

Unfortunatley, Cindy's unshot target picture did not turn out properly due to lighting problems and her technological inabilities with a digital camera.

Is this going to happen again this year?
I'm not sure if it will or not. It would all depend on the number of people wanting to participate, and if there would be anyone willing to keep track of all the scoring. I can talk to PatriotVFT and see if he would want to put this on again.
