I discussed with Skip the idea of a forum for all things scouting. :D Skip said lets post it and if we get a positive response from everyone we will have our own separate forum just for all aspects of scouting 8)

To me scouting is just as exciting as the hunts, well maybe not but close :D

A forum where we could post our successful scouting trips, tips and strategies, pics of the day afield and every thing we find along the way.

Show off Trail cam photos. Be able to watch antler development from first growth to harden antler.

Tips for shed antler hunting and our own place to post the pics for everyone to enjoy.

I think it would be great and I hope to see positive feedback from you guys if you like the idea too!

If you think this is a good idea and something you would like to have speak up and post your thoughts! :D Without positive feedback from you guys / gals it might not happen :!:

Thanks!

Is the first picture a telephone pole?

Are the rubs all in the same area?

Great pics.

Is the first picture a telephone pole?

Close. It's a utility pole.

The ones with the greenery are from the same farm.

Then the pine tree and the utility pole are the same place.

When are we going hunting

Well its gotta be one of your spots, I'm out of tags PDT_Armataz_01_12

Wasn't the ouble drop. He was from a different farm.

I think it was this guys daddy who shredded up the trees in the pics with the greenery in the background.

Me with a couple buddies

OK.

How about a shed I found three years ago and what the rack looks like today. 8)

You can see the shed has the G2 busted off at the main beam.

I kept telling my kids that they didn't realize how lucky they were to have found "horns" like that! I told my Daughter that alot of folks I know have never even found a shed that size before! :D

What's cool about the giant sheds that I'm standing with is that the one that appears old and weathered and chewed was actually found the first week of November THIS year when we were actually tracking my buddies buck! imagine our surprise? To find 2 years worth of his right antler during the same year was just awesome! I hope this year we are able to collect his right antler because it's sporting that 8+" droptine now! It appears that the buck is going to make it through yet another season, he's 7 1/2 right now! We are expecting to be going downhill in the next year or two?

Cornfed, that is really cool to see you and your kids in the outdoors shed hunting together!

Thanks Jeff! In my opinion, one of THE most important things a guy could ever do is teaching kids about the outdoors. I've even been a bit surprised that my kids love it as much as they do. Here's a pic from just today when me and the lil' guy went out and checked/moved the cams. He even looks like he's having fun! :D

Awesome pic cornfed, I always take my little boy and girl out with me and Mom even bowhunts with me, Kids and family are great and once they find the outdoors you wont ever have to wonder what they are doing.

OK, I will join in on the fun. This rub is small compared to some others on here but it is only 100 yards behind my house. The most interesting thing is not the tree diameter but the height of the rub and the tine marks well above:

Have only had my Leaf River digital trail cam for a month and it is in a small woodlot but have gotten a few decent pics:

Excellent! Justin, thanks for giving me the heads up on this site and on a scouting forum. I agree scouting is right up there with the actual hunt. There is no better feeling then stumbling across a monster shed or walking into the perfect set up. When you put everything you know about hunting into preparing for the up coming season and things start to click you can't help but to get giddy with the thoughts of what the season might bring.

For me I can hunt 3 months a year and the other 9 months are spent scouting and preparing for the next season. I'd love a place to share developments and techniques durring the off season.

Justin & Skip,
I hope it's a go!

That skinny racked buck in the top pic will be reeeeal nice next year. Good height and spread. Give that boy some mass and look out!

Better get that management in place like you were saying on HNI.

Give him some bedding on your property!

Speaking of managment, maybe if this enw forum is a "go" we could include land managment in it as well.

Land managment goes hand in hand with scouting. It is preparing for the big hunt.

I can see it already :D

Just thought I would add some more pix. Coyote colors? I thought these were some cool colorations for 'yotes and are very different from the standard silver tones we generally get in my area? Check out the white/blonde, THAT wuld be an awesome mount!
