I used Microsoft picture it, just playing around with it and seeing what I can do, I am getting ready to buy my own video editing program as well.
Any suggestions as to what to get?

Gander, I'm using Pinnacle Studio 8 to do my video editing. Works pretty well once you get the hang of it. Did my first "real" DVD this year and it turned out well. They have version 9 out now. I also have Roxio but haven't used it for video but it has the capability.

I have several programs and I guess Paint Shop Pro 8 is the best of the bunch but I havent sat down and taken the time to learn it.
I also use Pinnacle Studio 8 to do my video editing as well.
I want a program that I can add text and a line or arrow to iilustrate something something in a picture and not have to jump thru hoops to do it.

Gander,
Adobe Photo Deluxe, animation, and 3D modeling will get you started in any picture and video editing depending on your plugins...........As far as jumping through hoops, yeh that does happen, and I can tell you this much, you better have allot of patience and time, because they can be complex and very time consuming........They are and can be as good as you want them, but be prepaired to have lots of time on your hands, and plenty of coffee :D... One of the biggest problems is if you get an awesome software, and if they discontinue it, you should buy the plugins, you will not regret it.........The plugins, and effects are what brings your art to life...........Now, pending on your type of work, and how serious you want to get, you better start saving, and stop spending money on new BOWS :D....... Because there are some leading edge software, and hardware that will make you water from the mouth  ........
At least I do anyway :D...
For what you are looking to do, I would try Adobe....
Good Luck!!
Attached is the type of work I do.....
This is 3D modeling in animation .gif mode .......

PB30X, you sure convinced me :) I have the time but I am not sure about the patience to sit and fool around like that with a program. That is why I havent mastered the Paint Shop Pro 8. Good info you gave and thanx.

I just bought Adobe's PhotoShop Elements / Video Premeire Elements package combo at Fry's. Regular price was $150, but with the sale price, and rebate offer, and upgrade from previous version of PS Elements the final price will be $80.
I've used PS Elements for photos and it's awesome though a bit hard to get started with and the plugins make it superb.
Adobe Premeire has been THE video program for a bit but the $500+ price was not doable. Now the Elements version is here (also about $80 by itself) and if it's like the Elements version of PhotoShop, it should be super.
Pinnicle's Studio is supposed to be a good one also. The video thing is new to me though and I'm going with what I've read here. Now I've got to install my DVD burner.

I found a program that is real easy to add test and lines or pointers (arrows) to illustrate something on a picture without it being a major production, and it is right under most peoples' noses. No not your mustache! lol
The program that comes with Windows called Picture It. A good simple program for a simple job. Check it out.
Gander !
I'd definetly like to learn how you do this with the pic's ,since i'd like to modify my sig ,if I can ever figure out how to get a sig in there first.

Whitefeather, some was lost when the software upgrade was done. You have posted to this thread a couple of times.
A post where I asked you a question is gone also so here it is again. Do you know if Pinnacle sells just upgrades, ie; Studio 8 to 9 or do you have to buy a whole new software package?
Tejas Raz

Pinnacle does sell upgrades. I got something like version 5 with my ATI video card... but never played with it. By registering it, they start sending you upgrade offers is how I know.
